I just got this 33 DeSoto grille from ContinentalJohn here on the HAMB, the nerf bars are gone too. This is the grille that the Bluebird drag car had on it.
The holes on the top match up exactly with the deuce radiator as do the two top side mounts, bottom mounts will have to be fabbed but not one extra hole had to be drilled to make it fit.
The grill was originally chromed with most of it painted but the raised details left chrome, it would cost about a kabillion dollars to rechrome it.
I'll take more pics later with a proper camera.
Tell me if you dig it.

    That's freaking awesome.
    Paint it, with chrome details.
    Fits the car perfectly.
    Great chop too!!

Nads, that looks great man! Of all the different grilles that people put on model 40's, that's one of the only ones that looks right to me, aside from the stocker. Nice, and a defintite improvement!

I could loan you the Kabillion $$$ Nads, but you'd have to put up the coupe as collateral...

Nads, it definitely gets the "dickster seal of approval". I never equated such a grille could look that good on a '34........HMMMMMMMMM

I think it's much better than the Anglia grille. I'd like to see it with the nerf bars still on it.

Glad you dig it folks, it actually kinda looks good with the nerfs too, the axle's all wrong though, it should be black or chrome.

The Bluebird was a beautiful, finished car, mine's a long ways away and the chop in person is really bad, this one is what it is, I hope to have her looking slick and straight one day.
Dave, I've seen pics of The Bluebird these days, it's sad, she's lost all of her charm.

the 'bird isnt what it used to be for sure. but i am told the guy who owns it still has the desoto grille on the wall in his shop. there is 'potential' for former glory yet.

  29. Nads, I like it. Can't wait to see ya over here at the shop.
