Projects New floor and sub rails. Advice??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by beanheadjr, Jun 7, 2010.

  1. I own a 1934 ford and my sub rails are in ruff shape and i have no floor in the car. (as seen in pictures)

Do i weld my doors shut with the proper gap next, then brace my body with 1x1 tubing? Cut my old rails away?>

    Sorry newbie questions.........

I've done it a couple of times. I've found that it is easier if you build the floor and subrails on the chassis without the body and then lower the body over it. You're better off replacing the rockers while you are at it because they won't survive removing whats left of the original subrails.

I used Bitchin floorpans and subrails from Steve's Auto Restoration.

BTW. You can tack weld the doors shut for this if you want, but make sure you weld where it easy to cut them out, because you will do it multiple times in the fitting process.
