I know I am going to show my age and moreover, get some shit for this, but "solids" in my life meant HALIBRAND SOLIDS and not some wheels that look like that the only thing missing is the proverbial "wire basket" for your 83 Cutlass. Sorry, Cragar.

  4. Exactly what I thought. I've seen many a set missing the wire baskets painted flat black. Too many sets come to think of it......

They look too contrived to me. Does that make sense?

Yeah, but then again, I'm an English teacher. They're trying to hard to be solid mags . . . kinda like faux aged paint . . .

  8. They would look good with full wheel covers.

They can call them what they like, but half of a 70's to 80's era fake wire wheel is all that they are. They are the exact same wheel minus the baskets

Not attractive at all to me...

As an elementary school principal, I'm confused on why they went for the C+ when they should have gone for the A.

Could you imagine how many wheels they would sell if they'd cast some real "solid" wheels in aluminum or mag.? Man, they'd sell the hell out them.

I agree, the only thing "solid" about this wheel is the original stamped sheet metal they started out as.

On another note, since I'm a child of the '70's, the term "solid" does conjure up some pretty cool images. Something like some really hip brothers sporting' some bad ass flares and hi-fiving each other on the street corner. You know, something that Huggy Bear would be saying to Starky or Hutch. They'd be having a conversation something like this...

    Yo, what up brutha?

Ah, man nuthin. Just goin' out cruisin' in my Rivi.

    Solid!

I love them - very understated! Might be cool with pinstripes, too.

You could hit the swap meet and score a pair of slot mags, Cragars, or chrome steelies for that and still look good... I paid $80 for a pair of 15x10 American Daisy 200s wheels...

This was the crap they were trying to push.. lipstick on a pig. If you know your wheels, they belong on a 79 Buick with curb feelers and a fuzzy rearview mirror coozie.

    Seriously???

The pinstriped one would be cool for a cord/hose reel. Really, thats it.

Before I even read the thread I thought "That looks like an old American Racing fake wire without the basket". Used to seem em missing the baskets a lot back in the 80s, usually on Cadillacs.

That is a great use for those and had to be one of the easier wheels to paint half and half. A pinstriped one for the garden hose is what I think. And they would be SOLID on that Rivi fo sho!

When I said pinstripes that's what I meant - not the senseless overkill shown above.
