  3. A 225/75-14, the stock tire for most '60s big cars (Pontiac Bonneville, etc.), is equivalent to a 205/75-15.

The problem is that size is now common only as a trailer tire. The car tires are reproduced, but they run just a little under $200 each.

It would be much cheaper to change your car over to 15-inch wheels.

  4. I agree! Get some 15" rims. It will look better too.

well I'm using the 14's,because a older hot rodder gave me them for a wedding gift,,and he is letting me use his shop to build the car,,plus they're old sears wheels that look like torque thrust 2s,,so I need a good 14 inch tire size..

  7. Run with 215/75-14 tires. That size is only 1/2 inch less in height than the 205/75-15, and the speedometer variation between the two sizes is only 1.5%.

I agree with your wish to use the vintage wheels. I lucked into a full, undamaged set of Mickey Thompson wheels, Torque-Thrust clones that haven't been produced since 1971, and they're destined for my '67 GTO.

The tire pickings are getting slimmer with passing time for us guys who prefer to run 14-inch wheels.
