I bought a 54 New Yorker to get the 331 out of it for my 30 A. Anyone have some closeup pics of their car in the buildup stages, frame mounts and such ? Has anyone used the adapters to put Chevy stick setup behind the old hemis?
No help with the trans, but I'm curious about the New Yorker. What are you gonna do with the rest of it? Those are some beautiful cars - even the four-doors.
AKA,I'll check them out. Probably part the rest out. Here is the car I bought. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2494161950&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
There a number of adapters out there, along with Wilcap is Hot Heads . I think a '54 would have the short bell housing (preferred) and easier to manage. I have a '53 and it is a long bell housing motor. The change occured in '54 (I think). Make sure you pickup Ceridono's book Hemi Manual , it is filled with good stuff. My hemi is still on the floor next my sedan so I will post pics of other As with hemis industrial in a coupe ... imperial in a coupe ... Best of luck and post some pics!
http://www.deadendcruisers.com/featurecars.html#jimmywhite There are adapters for Hemi to almost every other tranny out there. Just gotta look.
Tuck, checked the car out today and it is the short block. I'm going to order the kit to put a GM manual behind it.
