He guys, I just bought a Brookville 32. It’s a highboy roadster with what looks like at least a 3 inch chopped windshield. The guy the car was made for is only 5’8 and I’m 6’2. I love the chop and hate to change the windshield. I wanna modify the bench seat so I sit lower in the car. The interior is real nice. Do you have any suggestions? Who is an expert apulstery guy in Los Angeles or Orange County etc that Has experience with 32 Ford fitment for big guys?

  2. The seat needs to go down and back. Lotta wasted space there. To get the fit right YOU have to sit in it without that seat and just some mock up so the trimmer can see where you need to be and therefore where the seat needs to be. 6'2" is nothing (unless there's more to the story than just height.) You can fit and be comfortable with the seat - and pedals and steering wheel - set up right for you.

Didn't your mother tell you to try things on before you buy them?

BTW, chop or not, that's not a regular Ford windshield. ;)

Nice roadster. The seat looks over stuffed. Have someone under stuff it.

Take a picture of how the seat is bolted on the floor. If you have space to drop it, drop it. Or buy new flatter seats and enjoy your Rod

Go to Downtown LA or South Central. Orange county will suck your money dry.. if you want I can meet you in South Central or call the guys for a shop for you. If you need Spanish.

If you speak the language you'll play less 1/2 of the time

I don't recall seeing too many Roadster seat backs that didn't meet the top tacking strip, it just doesn't look comfortable in the photo. Bob

The solution right there for sure, probably not quick and easy though.

Most bench seats do but doesnt meen it has to.
Many roadsters that I've seen with bucket seats (including mine) tuck low under that lip and sit back as far as possible with a much thinner back rest.
I also tilted the lower front part of the bucket up to get it farther back under that lip.

I had a [sectioned 5" and channeled 5"] '33 fiver, I wanted to look out the w/s at 5/8 of its hight... to get that I made floors that tapered from flush with the floor at the front of the seat to a 2" drop at the rear... let me keep the escort seat with stock hight cushions and not tip my neck to see whats out there... HIH...

For some reason, that seat back doesn't look comfortable. Maybe too short and too much of an angle.

  11. I'm 6'4" and I fit fine in my old roadster with a 3" chopped windshield,my seat was thinner & lower and further back. HRP

It may have a 3" chopped windshield, but with the leaned back posts it is probably more equivalent to 4"-5".

Could pay a visit to Steve Dennish at Limeworks Speedshop, as he's not small guy, and owns a 32 roadster himself......??

It looks like the seat can be moved back 2 or 3 inches pretty simply but then again that is "it looks like" Compared to HRP's seat yours is at least that much forward as far as lean back goes. 32 brown seat.jpeg 32 red and white seat.jpeg

  16. At the shoulder level, you can basically get away with zero padding/stuffing, as long as there is a little lumbar roll. Even HRP'd could gain 2/3 inches more room.

What's with the back to front latches HRP?

You should be able to make it work, have a Buddy 6' 2+", 300# and he drives it all over the country, not a stretched Duece body, has laid back boat style windshield. This question comes up often here, next time I see Earl, I'll look in his car, talk with him to as how/what he modified so he fits down in so well. I had a 32 3 widow, glass car, (pic's my album's) standard chop with Volvo buckets, very comfortable, roomy, I'm 5'10" 210#. Let several taller men sit in my car at various shows, most fit, some not when tall and fat/big ass. Your delema reminds of time man wanted to buy my Roadster 'A' with chopped bolt on top. Got him in, he could not get out, had to help shove/pull him out, end of that sale, but funny. By the way, NICE car ! Enjoy !
