Need help: Poncho fuel pump question

The fuel pump took a dump in my 41' Pontiac. So I ordered a replacement. However, the actuator arm on the new one is completely different than the one I took off the car. I did some checking and it appears that the one I was sent is for a 41' pontiac inline 6. I just can't figure out why the one I took off is so different, and therefore why the new pump won't fit. Here's a pic of the two side by side. The one on the left is the one I took off the car and the one on the right is the new one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Is it possible there was a mid-year change?
