Need help on radio

put a cd player/radio in a '57 w/ 1 wire 100amp alternator - radio has 2 wires - yellow, constant hot - red, ignition hot - radio plays good at idle - at any rpm, radio cuts in & out - do i need a resistor on the hot wire or both wires? any ideas on size of resistor? or is it something else? thx for your help
