Just got a Customers 30 Model A in for some sreering box work and saw that it was leaking water. The rusty water is nasty, and the rad is new. What is a good cleaner to do a Heay Duty Job. Iceman
Go to your local Caterpillar dealer and pick up coolant flush. Pour the correct amount in your rad fill the system with water run the engine for 30 minutes and make sure the thermostat is open. Repeat until the water comes out clean. The shit works well.
Or maybe it's Lime-A-Way, available at home stores, etc... Think it works best to pour it in and let it circulate for a little bit, let it sit and then flush it with water til it's clear.
An old timer told me to fill it with vinegar and drive it for a couple hours, then flush with water. Worked very well for me, lots o crap came out
White vineger, I dump 2 quarts in and run it for a week or so, fluch it out and do it again. Pull the block drains and run water out of there too. When its clean add water and some baking soda and run that for a while. Works great, cheap and as long as you dont leave it in there for too long its harmless.
