Wow someone bak in the day made a Gremlin race car....Ha...Check out the shopping cart wheel wheely bars...When we found this thing it had a sbc in it and there was a 671 blower and a dead cat...(skeleton) in the front seat..........Halibrands anyone.
look like ETs to me. The "flame job" and the "AA/FC" are down right comical. I have seen more than one set of wheelie bars done that way. It just goes to show you that some people have all of their taste in their mouth.
why is everone making fun of it, I think its a score!! Throw a 400 SBC in it with the blower & i bet you'd turn some repectable times with it!! It is comical now but could be one sweet(& quick) ride down the 1/4. $10 worth of rattle cans & its a new car!!lol JimV
Dang, you missed the AMC club meet in Riga yesterday. Lots of mullets and baby blue motors. You should have brought it down.
i just want to go on record saying, "that thing is awesome." maximize your cheese factor with some bass boat flake.
I'll second that car being cool as hell. The flame paint is bad, but someone went to some work fitting those hoops under the quarters. I'd put the grumpiest small block in it I could build and rule the cruise ins. I've seen a couple pics of Gremlins as gassers before NHRA killed the class. American made, small, light weight...perfect gasser material. -Brad
i had a piss green gremlin drag car a couple of years ago. Not only was it a hoot with a 401 and 4 speed but I sold that thing for $7k and the parts for another $8k. I've never seen anyone as fanatical as those AMC guys. That auction got like 10,000 hits in a week. If you think it's comical, sell it and laugh all the way to the bank. Personally I think it's pretty cool.
There still out there. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=160106527518&rd=1&rd=1
What are your plans for it? Im a gremlin owner. got a 401 ready to go in mine. Always looking for new projects. Visit gremlinx.com if you need any gremlin help too. We're pretty friendly people over there.
The engine was in the car with no intake or valve covers, the blower was stolen by a jerk that stored the car for a while.....(it was toast anyway, far to nasty to rebuild). The cat skeleton went to a fellow club members grandson for show and tell at school.
I had to get my new 73 Chev truck repaired after getting rear ended. I HAD to rent a Gremlin as it was last car on the lot. I was totally embarresed to drive it. I had to rush my wife to the hspital to have a baby in it. I crossed my fingers it would make it. It did make it but next day blew the power sterring hose on the way to work. I refered to that car as " The Assless Gremlin" to this day. Get rid of it.
well, is it for sale?????...hali's, et's, ansens...who cares, it is kinda kool in a weird sortof way!?!
That's a nice piece of drag racing history right there, you should not change a thing and take it to a nostalgic event. The old drag racers appreciate stuff like that, shows a time when everyone was involved before the corperate dollar took over.
I had a dream last night, you need to install the Levi interior and raise the nose another 2 inch's , install a 401 and flog the shit out of it.
