View attachment 1742194 After lurking here for about a year i finally joined this great site. I have a 40 steel willys coupe that i have owned since 2007. The car needed alot of work but it was as close as i ever was going to get to getting a coupe. I had the car for about 3 years before any work was done to it because I didn't know where to start first, plus I am self employed and my wife and I had our first child in 08'. The car was put on the back burner till 2010 when my wife and good friend Rob Mullins and Travis Midgley took the car without me knowing it and bolted it together. They then put it on the back of Robs car hauler and had it at the pumpkin run nats in 2010. When i was walking up to it I told my wife "look Robs got a willys too" then I noticed that it was mine. Then and there Natalie made me promise to start on the car as soon as possible. Well here we are about 3 weeks away from the 2012 pumpkin run and it looks like with a little luck the car might make it to the show under its own power!!! Here are a few pics of the car in the beginning as well as how it looked on the back of Rob's truck. Sorry for the quality of the pics but the lights in Travis' shop have a bright yellow glare. I will post more pics soon. Dave Fiscus
Wow congrats on the addition to the family. You must be living right, good friends and a great wife. Now dont let her down get to work. We look forward to a build thread.
Natalie is a complete angel. Dave your very deserving of having your dream car road worthy. I can't wait to see you driving it in a few weeks. We will have some great times cruising around in your willys. Looking forward to it buddy!!!
Dave, I believe that we meet and talked about your car at the HOTROD REUNION in BG 2 years ago. I meet Rob as well. The car is looking great.Good luck with the willys and hang on to the good friends, They are both hard to come by. Having a wife that supports the project is a huge benefit. Larry
Congratulations nice car. I can imagine the expression on your face when you seen it. Having a good wife is a great help. Makes it easier to buy things.
Sorry that I haven't been on here in a while. The car was up and running in time for the pumpkin run in owensville Ohio the first week of October. Travis worked very hard to make this dream come true and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. The car got best gasser at that show and won best overall hotrod at the cavalcade of customs in January. I'm not a car show kinda guy, I'm more of a drag racer but it did feel good to get the praise from guys that I admire so much. It's still hard to believe that the car is drivable and turned out just like I had hoped!!! Someone said earlier that the car was a 37 but its actually a 40 with a 37 cowl. I could not have made this happen without the support of my wife Natalie . She's the one who pushed me to get this thing up and running. Also I'll post some updated pics just as soon as I can remember how to get them on the computer
