Been in Dawsonville with friends(non car people) and needed a car fix yesterday. Contacted Chad Adams who has Adams Hot Rod Shop in Calhoun an hours drive from here. They had just arrived back from Louisville late Sunday night and were busy unloading cars and reloading one that was heading back to Australia after taking out one of the top awards at the Nationals. That is the green 5 window coupe.
They also had the Chev 6 powered 32 Tourer and Chads 32 roadster. I believe they had two other 32 highboys on display in the building show area that took out awards.
Chads shop does some nice work
Heading off tomorrow for some tourist stuff in Asheville and then to Maggie Valley for a hot rod run on Friday and Saturday. It is run by the VSRA and called Smokin’ Rodz in the Smokies.

If you find yourself hanging out for some good Aussie food take a short trip down to Marietta. A mate " Mark Allen" has the " Australian Bakery cafe on the square. All sorts of pies, vanilla slice, eclairs, burgers etc. Mark is a rodder and currently working on a 31 A Tudor and a 59 F100. He built a 34 Dodge roadster when he still lived in Australia. We spent the first 2 weeks of July with him doing car stuff.

Got back from Maggie Valley tonight. Attended the VSRA run and quite a good turnout with maybe over 100 cars. Also checked out the Wheels Through Time Museum. Will post some pictures after sorting "traditional" and
"non traditional". Irrespective they were all conscientious hot rodders who were having fun with cars.
And thanks again to Phil who gave me info on this event. Phil drove down from Chicago via Louisville onto Maggie Valley and will then head back to Chicago(800miles).

Here are some photos. The first lot is the Wheels Through Time Museum. Lots of bikes that are not really my thing but some very special early ones there. Dale's sign says if you looked at each bike for 3 minutes you would be there 3 days!!! I think the Model A roadster pickup came from the Hartung collection as did the weird thing with the fins. I can't remember its name but it is an iconic car. The white Caddy was owned by Steve McQueen. P1040381 (Medium).JPG

Always on the to do list in Dawsonville is a Bully Burger at the Dawsonville Pool Room. This is a shrine to Bill Elliott of NASCAR fame. There are a few derelict race cars around town and these two are probably the best of the worst.
Saw a tail light sticking out of a shed when driving around and went back to investigate and found this Fairlane
    two door hardtop. P1040457.JPG P1040458.JPG P1040459.JPG P1040460.JPG

Have been in Yellowstone for the last three days enjoying the scenery. Beautiful. Going through Cooke City today and spotted some cars. It is a bunch of guys who travel all over the country and this weeks run was to Cody. They are originals or restored cars and only one that resembled a hot rod. Some nice cars though. The light green Buick in picture 7 was following us through the park and we had to wait for a large bison to cross and our driver said he could see in the rear view that the bison turned and appeared to butt the car. Hopefully not. We have been busy doing tourist stuff and the eclipse in Jackson Hole Wyoming. Back to San Diego on last Thursday
and then headed up to Pleasanton for Goodguys Western Nats. Nearly 3000 cars based on entry numbers I saw.
Went over on Saturday and spent a full day in 104 degree heat walking the fairgrounds. Back on Sunday for a few hours but a lot less cars. Sorted pictures to hopefully include only those HAMB appropriate.
Some pictures are a little hazy for some reason but I left them in. Next. The last picture is a barn find Chev roadster and the includes the dead rodent on the running board that I guess was there when they dragged the car out. Looked like the real thing to me. I amazed HUDSON48 that you managed to do in a few weeks what a lot of us would like to do.
The difference is we live here, and speaking for myself what you did will take me probably a life time!
Thanks for the great tour! Joe
