All great car collections were put together by guys with a real passion for one focused area, and this one has to rank up near the top. Buying finished cars, ones with REAL history is rare, having this many in one place, is close to heaven. Seeing that RAJO powered T Lakes Modified has survived after all these years was the hit of the tour for me. Thanks Ralph for putting all those cars together, best wishes for the future. Bob

That museum was supposed to open back in like '07 if I remember right. I guess I kind of forgot about it the past couple years.

Any info on the auction at the Petersen? September 28th is a Monday and it isn't on the Petersen's calendar. Anyone know what company is doing the auction?

Thanks for the pics, there is definitely more to the story somewhere.

R&M is holding the auction, so they should sell well. Have fun on your run to LA!

"Yet another truck was a 1983 Ram used for tractor pulls; and still another was built just for Don Garlits’ museum. The third new wagon (the one that was used through the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s) and the museum truck have both been purchased by a collector for museum display."

  7. Is Mr. Moriarity the man from the Discovery channel that bought the Pontiac Bonneville at B-J a few years ago ?

Figured it had to be RM, don't know why I didn't look there first! Bonhams has done some sales at the Petersen in the past though.

It is September 26th at the Petersen, start saving your pennies now!

Check out the auction info here:

Decisions, Decisions. :D I do know we could stay with Crazy Backyard Builder for that weekend. His place is pretty close. Airfair and some food expenses, kinda a cheap LA weekend. NWA non-stop $319.19

It's not fast. No wheels or wing or bodykit. No big exhaust. No turbo. But it IS the worlds coolest honda.:)

If I thought there was any chance in the world I could get the Boothill Express, I'd mortage the house for it. I'm sure it will be out of my league.

That's the original Boothill (gutted small hemi which never ran). The duplicate (both were built by Ray Farhner) has a 426 hemi that ran when it was originally finished.

So if the Boothill Express is in it it must include some of the Petersen cars as. I'm pretty sure it's been in the vault at least the last three times I've been down there.

You should go for it Doc, you never know what's gonna happen at an auction!

Meg, I think the one at the Peterson is the fiberglass Wheel stander. Moriarty says that Ralph's is the original car. I'm putting in my time off request at work today. Even if I don't buy anything, I think the trip would be worth it just to see all of those cars in one place.

wasn't there just a thread here about a guy who traded a Roth bike to get the Purple and White car back thats in the first picture? I thought he had pictures of it sitting in his living room.

Wow all that automotive history in one place and now to be broken up again......pretty F'n sad....Thanks for the post though, at least some of us get a chance to see some of it...I think that P Jones Maurauder went for about $43,000 at Palm Springs auction, if it's the same car....can't be too many around.....I would assume the economy turn down would have a lot to do with it not happening.....really too bad

I too would LOVE Roth's little Honda.
I'd turn it into a go-cart. 12" road racing slicks and mini-lites on it, dropped on the ground, cage, etc., etc.....
