Today-Sunday The tank fired up with ease!!!! No fuel leaks,No oil leaks-Some One is looking OVER this flathead!!! It was just to easy!! Ol Deuce
Congrats Ol Duce thats one more out of the way, nutin like firing er up and no problems..............
Mind if I take it around the block while your out tomorrow? I'm sure the cop shop will understand, most of them are "car" guys right.
Great job,Im building one too, yours has been fun to watch come together.Mine is Steel and off a F4U Corsair from 1944,Im building a tube frame for mine. Again GREAT JOB fella
Got Her jacked up The clutch works well, all three gears EVEN Reverse works, If I get this one stuck on her belly I will just back her up and go around not to bad!!
jalopykid when I filled the tank with 30+ gallons of water,it didn't seem to drop the the front any at all! when we ran the engine the water started to expand at 185F, I lost about a quart out of the tank. It did not boil after 40 min. of running! Talk to ya soon Ol Deuce
Randy!!!!!! What the Hell are ya doin'???? I haven't seen any new pictures of your tank!!! Lets get after it!!
Randy ran the engine while I was there--- ran good and will run along while and still stay in the low temps.Sounds good!!
It would be cool if the SCTA-BNI would let that happen ,but I don't think they would even consider that even though I am a member! This tank has been a fun build and now that it moves under its own power makes it more fun Ol Deuce
OK...here's the hot deal for Speed Week 2010. You build a push board on the front of the tank, and use it to push Bobby off the line in the Old Crow. You would need to go at least a 1/4 mile then drive down the return road to the 4 mile.
Now this is thinking outside the box! Randy you need to do this and let the officials tell you no you can't.
Now I could handle that!! It might be hell with a Hand Clutch a little practice and you can do anything. Ol Deuce
nice project I have 2 questions pertaining to the chassis, forgive me if someone else already asked cause I did not read every post on every page (kinda danced around the post). anyway I was wondering why you didn't box the frame aren't those old frames kinda springy (tweak easy)? and I was wondering if the rear supports (plates) are enough on that being they are so close to the center line with no outer supports (radious rods)? not bust'n your stones, I like the tank ... just wondering? Paul
man that is just too cool..... im building a street legal tank that is 700 gal. supposed to be for 2 people. how do those shock absorbers work and where can you find them.
Paul; This project is a tribute car that was lost in the early 50's So I tried to follow the story as close as I could with the parts I had on hand.I did have to buy alot things but . the frame was a unboxed "T" frame and no radius rods on the rear. I did a few things I felt needed to be done to keep the chassis on the firm side which worked out! But in general this project fallowed the story and pictures as close as I could. Ol Deuce
