the ride into boston thursday nite sucked. rain, snow, & traffic. the ride out of town sunday was much nicer. after we got gas for another club member who ran out about 1000 feet from the gas station it was a quick (loud) blast up the interstate home. the lil 305 ran great buzzing at 4grand the whole way. i really wanted to get home.
Nice build, I'm saving an old 55 and doing an old school gasser, very low buck and bout havethe rolling chassis done. Glass tilt front end copied about every straight axle article here on the hamb for help with the axle. Thanks all. Got a big block and tb400 waiting to go in. I love the 4 speeds but after several knee sugeries you'll understand. Once again Great job, Doug
1 step closer to bitchin' paint. the chevy's goin' under the knife this week. a fellow club member is taking care of the rotten tail panel along with a lil custom body work...
i got the same tail pan rot, looks like the same guy fixed mine too. love finding hidden treasures from days gone by.
ha! i pulled an old new hampshire license plate out of the floor pan. my buddy's making some real progress on this shitbox. he hacked this previous "repair" outta the tailpanel i had the patch panel for the driver's side under the tail light to the tail panel so he installed that. the center of the tail panel is slavagable. the passenger side where it goes up to the quarter...prolly not so much. here's the rest of the patch roughed in. there's a lil bit of patch work to do on the inside of the trunk too, but nothing worse than the previous eyesore. as far as the custom body work goes these holes for the splash shields are going to be filled to give it a cleaner look bumperless. also the wraparound lip on the tailpanel will be ended at the peak of the quarter panel. hopefully painted by milltown 5...
Dude , I remember when you traded for your 55 and have followed along with your thread. I don't know anyone that has more fun with their car then you!!!!!!!! As you can see by my avatar, I also have a 55 and love it too much but I wish I had the motivation to get it done as you do.... I should have followed along and did a step by step with you and then my shit box would have the attitude that yours does... Someone said in this thread a ways back that (They would hate to meet your car in a alley) as in it could kick ass ! It sure looks like it,I love it and you can be proud of it for sure... Keep on grinning as you tool on down the road ! Good luck to ya from one car-nut to another !
i really need to find a place to put my 55 and get back to work. its in storage now, but with the warm weather coming, and all these updates on other 55s, im getting real excited.
Very nice work, glad to see it coming along so well.... Just trying to get mine running for now, will follow up on the body work as time (and money) allow over the next couple of years.... thanks man, i've been following your thread since right about the time i started mine. seems we have pretty similar formulas for 55 building. gotta lil more progress to show. the passenger side tail panel is all patched up & you can see how it's modified to eliminate the wraparound to the outside of the quarter.
The thing I like best about your '55 build is you're having fun with it! And that's what it's really about! Great looking build!
Any mods planned to the ends of the splash panel that holds the rubber flap? Doh!!! just went back and read #486 where you talk about it. I have a bad habit of doing that.
For some reason I really dig white on the 55s more the older I get. Here's one I spotted at the San Antonio Dragway @ Marion, Texas. It was a father son team that built it and they were having a blast. You know, the way it's supposed to be with your dad/son. It had a 502 and many undisclosed goodies under the hood. One thing that struck me kinda funny was the way they split the dash right down the middle so they could get to the engine area. Didn't mean to steal your thread but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to post another 55. Keep up the good work, Aman.
thanks man, haven't seen any updates on your car...what gives? luckily for me it's not a pain in my ass! i traded the labor on an air bag setup in a fellow club member's 55 buick 2 door for the rot repair on my car. he knows how to bang tin, i know how to build a sweet air ride setup.
havent had any time to work on the car ..but i have plans to do some body work and re paint it before summer also swap out trhe front tires from m/t to some street radials what size did you go with on your rockets 165 ? x15 they look like they fit well
yeah man, 165-15s. they are the same tires i had on the centerlines. i wouldn't mind if they were like an inch taller, but they fit pretty good. i plan on switching to some 5.60-15s with a whitewall this summer though...if funds allow. well, ONE of my new buckets showed up today. i dig it. i think they will fit the car well.
