I know how you feel. Had to have one ,and I knew from the start it wouldn't be a easy fit.
That thing is really cool... its like before Norm took the Kookie car to Jeffries.
That is cool!

BTW...buy a lift and keep building cars!

Thank's guys for all the positive comments.
That turned out pretty darn nice, congrats on still building one of the ones you always wanted.
Badass - what a ride !! Reeks of the time period !!
I can't say anything that hasn't been said already other than; "I love it!"
Simple and perfect.
Hope to run into you somewhere some day, I'd love to meet the two of you.
Maybe we'll see it in Dewey, 2o12?
I got to sit in it last thursday at garage night...I fit!...cause I'm short, like Mr.Mac...
Damn that's nice, you've really nailed it! You must be feeling so chipper!
HaHa,But your belly is ALOT bigger than mine.
What a great project and the end result is right on the money. Real nice job!
And you really think that this will be your last build ..... I doubt it.
I really like your car Mac.
Last hot rod my ass - you can't just quit this stuff - try as you might, there is only a short break. Looks great man
Very nice bucket Mr Mac, time to get a 4 post hoist I'm thinking.
Awesome! I just watched, " The car that ate my brain" today with the Von Franco clones. Awesome history!
alwayzarat, I have watched that that little movie many many times and know how Von Franco feels.
I just picked up the Oct. 1955 Issue of Hot Rod Magazine on Ebay as well. That was the first magazine the Lightning Bug was in. I am anxious to see what all it says about the car. Great build! Just great!!!
It's been two months since my last update so I thought i would do a quick one.Did get the stripping done by my old buddy Ron Meyer's.Most of my time has been spent working out the bug's,Like no brakes, bent harmonic balancer, brake line's leaking and rear shock's hitting the frame after the rear spring settled. Got them all fixed, now waiting on the painter to put the flames on and i've got to build the cover for the front spring perch.
My goal was to have the car ready for the Tulsa Starbirds show in mid Feburary. I think I'm going to make it. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful Xmas.
Looks great Ted!!
Really turned out well Ted. Joe
Looks cool!!---Now, take it out & "Stab it & steer it"!!!!----Don
When and if I ever get around to a ground up T build, this is the blueprint I am going to follow...too cool.
Sexy. Now have fun with it!!
Looking good ! You driving it to the Thaw ?
Now, go have some fun in it!
