I hate to ask this... but searching ebay and all over the net, I've checked these sites and came up empty...

    http://www.vmrintl.com/cctm/coll_frame.htm
    http://www.oldcars.com/
    http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/pricecheck.html
    http://www.buyclassiccars.com/value.asp

I have yet to find a better place to ballpark a price for a hot rod than right here... (blatant suck up...)

So... a good friend has been offered up the chance to buy a 32 Ford 4 door sedan that is a 60s hot rod survivor. I don't know much about it other than its chopped and all steel. No idea on drive train or if there is one. Its been sitting since the mid 60s... in Florida, I believe. I have no idea the condition of the car, but knowing the guy who's interested, I'm guessing its solid. I don't think its a famous magazine car or racer... just someones hot rod.

He was asked the "whats it worth question." So, any ideas what its worth? I see a stocker on Ebay now for $11K but the reserve isn't met.

    Anyone want to chime in?

    Thanks!
    Mike

WAYYYY Too many variables to even come close to giving you a ball park value.

From your description it can range from a decent BARE body to a complete turn-key painted and upholstered old hot rod. The range inbetween those two cars is at least 30 grand. Someone would really need to see some detailed pictures to give you an accurate appraisal.

    yeah, thats what I figured.

Its not a turnkey by any means. I talked to him again and its a SBC and not sure if it runs or not. He thought it was an early 9" under it. Has steel wheels all around. But as far as a car...its complete. Has seats and trimmed interior, but it all needs to be gone through. Glass is all in it and intact. Paint is decent for a 40 year old hot rod.

If I stopped my other two projects, I could put maybe two grand into another buy. I'd have to factor in the fees for the divorce lawyers and alimony, but I could spare two grand. I'd look at this opportunity because I always had a sweet spot for 4-door Deuce's.
Any more than 2K and I'd bail.
Somebody else out there might be lurkin' for just such a springboard to happiness, but today's buyers would probably say:

    "A Deuce? PRICELESS!"
"A 4-door? OOPS, DID THEY REALLY MAKE ONE?"
