My first e-bay ad...did I do ok?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rocky, May 18, 2004.

  1. I've never submitted an ad on e-bay before. Yep, I'm an e-bay virgin! I had to shit or get off the pot with my trusty 53 Nash. I bought it last summer with my 37 Willys pickup [that I sold to Lukester] and never picked it up from where I bought it. The Nash seller calls em up last week and tells me I gotta come and get it but I had no place to put it. So I did what any red blooded American [saluting] would do. I put it on ebay! Take a look at item number 2479354196 and tell me if I did ok, ok? I prolly made some stupid mistake but the way I look at it, I had little to lose. Whaddyathink? Did I leave any loopholes so I could get screwed?

Your ad looks good to me. I might add a line about offering more photos if needed, and answering any questions before sending in a bid. With no reserve, you will be selling it for the highest bid, even if that is the starting bid. The payment within 5 days is tought to expect, not everyone is in love with Paypal. The fact that you have feedback is a big plus with your first auction. A (0) rating is a big worry to some people.Good luck with the auction.

Hey Rocky, why not put an ad on ebay looking for your truck.Post it like it is for sale, but in the ad explain it is stolen and there is a reward, ya never know, and that way all the people looking to buy something like that might have seen it....Worth a shot Toqwik

  8. Maybe I'll post that "Stolen Model A" asd when I rake in the millions from the na$h auction....
    Now, valid...vee-aye-ell-eye-dee.....got it.

  9. Dont worry about not using PAYPAL. In this day and age you can priority mail in around 3 days for $3.85 or next day for about $20. If they are serious, they will make it happen.

i promise i won't buy it, but that dash, steering column and wheel are pretty damn cool...for a nash!

hell, i don't even count the studebaker i had when i was 12 or so as my "first" car, i didn't start counting till i got a chevy a year later! [IMG]

now that i think about it i actually kinda wish i had that stude again! dammit rocky, the sickness is spreading! at least studebakers are ten times cooler than nashs.

A word of warning here - eBay really frowns on this sort of stuff. I know you see things not for sale all the time on eGay, but the reality is, they'll pull the ad in short order & might even ban you - particularly since you have such low feedback numbers. Then again, they might not do anything...it IS a large audience, but that's exactly why they're nazis about it.

The only thing that I see that could be a problem is the phrase: "Car will need to be picked up within 10 days of end of auction. If not, it will be towed." Towed where? To the buyers house? I know that is not what you mean...and most reasonable people know what you mean...but lets face it there are a lot of f**kin idiots on eBay.

I would change it to read: "Car will need to be picked up within 10 days of the end of auction. If it is not picked up in that time frame, the car will be towed to the CRUSHER! No refunds! This car has to go right away. Thanks and Happy Bidding"

Other than that it is a good ad!
