What do you do in your spare time? You are what hotordding is all about! Standing alone and being creative.

  4. It's nice to see your post getting such a good response. A guy a few weeks ago posted pics of an entire Cobra he and his crew built out of aluminum and he practically got sodomized for it. Your car has chunks of billet in plain sight and not a bad word...yet.

Your car looks terrific by the way.

I'm self employed,...repair alloy wheels on insurance claims.....the roadster took 9 months to build in my 'spare' time.....

I know there is some billet in the build, I built a 'Rat' last time....wanted to mix the old with the new on a shiney car this time... I'm sick of that word,.....there are still people around here that refer to my a roadster as a rat rod?.....I don't know if a hot rod can even be built anymore without that term being aplied to it..

That's because it has bicycle tires in back. You're gonna have to step up to some real tires if you actually want to accelerate.

    Nice truck.

  9. Very nice work! Any real special tools? Or pretty much just the basics + determination???

wow. What a clean set up!

  12. Very cool! I'd really dig some pics of the front suspension, as I've studied these photos and for the life of me can't find a spring or torsion bars. Lots of clever details, and I know it's gotta be a blast ! ! !

  13. Three of us stood and studied this car for about half an hour at the run in MooseJaw and the more we looked the more details we saw. Very nice piece. The billet pieces didn't ruin it for me. Still looked like something Doune Spencer would have built. Very detailed. Mixed the old with new. Front suspension is nice too. Pat.

  14. I agree, I like the positive response also. Maybe this place is comming around a little. When I first posted my build 18 months ago I didn't exactly get a warm welcome, Fiberglass car and all, but I get the whole "real hot rod" deal. I think this build is a tribute to the ability he has and the desire to keep "hot rods" alive. Fiberglass, Aluminum, Steel, I say if it looks, smells, and runs like a hot rod it probably is a hot rod. NICE JOB!!!!!

Great work! So many interesting things to look at. The billet chunks arent my deal, but the rest of the rod makes me salivate.

The frame is 1.25" .120 wall steel, not aluminum.. powdercoated satin silver ..I hand sanded the body to 1500, and originally polished it by hand with autosol,.....I was afraid of warping the alum.....I have since went at it with rouge and a buffer being careful not to let it heat up, followed by autosol again....now it is blinding in the sun light.....approx 150 hours in sanding and polishing....
