The cab and bed have been removed for a couple of reasons.

While mocking up the cab I realized with the 10 inch stretch the T5 transmission shift knob was too far forward so it was removed and shipped to Modern Driveline. They are replacing the S10 tail cone with a Camaro tail cone which pushes the shift knob back 10 inches.

The bed came off so the threaded gas cap bung could be welded on.

Also, channels had to be cut into the bed side for axle clearance. They are being boxed in so the wiring can be hidden. The racing filler cap and mounting points are next.

Got my T5 trans back from Modern Driveline. It started life as a T5 out of a 85 S-10 pickup. Mounted it up to learn the shift knob was to far forward. Shipped it to MDL and they added a late model Camaro tail cone.

Now the shift knob is 10" further back which should be just about right. I also got a hydraulic throughout bearing which should buy back some floor space near the trans tunnel.

Overall I am very happy with MDL's work and knowledge of T5 transmissions, Thank you Paul.

vrod64, Hope the 10 inch cab stretch helps with the leg issue, I'm more worried about the pedals being so close together.

Besides mocking up the steering column, the clutch and brake cylinder/pedal assembly is mounted. New pedal arms are going to be fabricated to lengthen them and to allow for re positioning the pedal foot pads.

From the cylinders, hydraulic lines run across the inside firewall splitting the front brakes with the right going down the right side and the left going down the left side of the firewall.

Along side the right front brake line is the clutch line and along the left is the rear brake line. On both sides the lines exit the cab through the floor where it kicks back. The lines will be covered up with sheet metal so they don't get stomped on and will be removable for servicing.

Because of the 10" stretch the roof is getting some supports (last photo).

The doors are moving along. Not shown is the new door skin. Everything below red marker line (window frame) will be replaced. If you look at the inside photos you'll see the window and door handles are installed (actually a window crank on both) but the internals are in. Also, if you look below the dash you can see the heater vent mock up.

Well Folks, we finally have a door!

See photo's below. The cab has a 10 inch stretch with 6 in the door and 4 in the cab to maintain proportions. It's taken a while but now the first one is somewhat done the second will go much faster using the first as a template.

Now on to a controversial issue, air conditioning.

I can only defend myself by saying this, I'm an old boy and life is way too short not to be comfortable, especially in my bad ass ride and if I'm going to be happy I've got to keep the wife happy too, I'm absolutely sure you mature fellas know know exactly what I'm talking about???

Anyway on to the photos, WOW a can of worms putting all this crap in to a 34 pickup. The blower unit is like stuffing 10 lbs of S*#!t into a 5 lbs bag or should I say cab? Tucked the compressor under the dash.

As for the compressor, its been tucked under the motor to hide it best as possible.

All of the hoses/tubing (not installed yet) will be snaked along the inside of the frame rail.

Running the tube to/from the condenser was another tight squeeze.

    Hey Folks

I know its been awhile but the passenger door is finally underway. Stretching the doors 6 inches turned out to be a bit more complicated than expected. Anyway, check out the photos below.

    Hey Folks

I've been working on some of the finer details while the doors are being finished up. One item is the HAMB topper.

You can see its pretty rough when first received and because of the location of my license plate, the "topper" wasn't going to work for me so the mounting tab was cut off and two holes were drilled & tapped in the back of the topper.

Then it was polished and finally painted. I purchased a licensee plate frame and mounted it bottom center.

Here are some photos from the HAMB on the Rocks. As you can see the doors are nearly finished and it's really starting to come together.

  17. It's looking real good.
Neat idea for the tag topper.
The cab looks pretty spacious in the pictures.
I really like that body line detail on the bottom of the cowl!

Here you can see how the tail gate hook had to be modified.

    Can't forget the video.

Did anyone catch the modification on the door seams? What's different from a stocker?

The tail gate hooks have been finalized and the attach point of the chain took a little finessing to allow clearance for the turn signal lights.

The Billet Specialties license plate frame with HAMB emblem has been installed too and wow, I really love the polished finned brakes from John's Industries.

Some of the other item getting a little attention are the gas cap and filler neck. All of the components have been clocked and drilled so the mounting screws line up.

The wind shield frame has been chopped down and a Plexiglas template window installed as well as the cab corners receiving a bit of work too. Under the front edge of the bed a cover has been fabricated to hide a ugly chassis bolt.
