Hot Rods My '34 Ford 5W Coupe -> Questions about History, Shop "The Final Touch" & Don Baker

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Timo Power-Fighters, Jun 29, 2012.

  1. Hi everyone,

yesterday, I got my new car, an all steel 1934 Ford 5-Window Coupe.
The car is in great condition, now I am looking for some history of it.

    What I know so far:
Car was imported from US to Scotland in 2007, the dealer who sold it was "Classic Car Studio" in St. Louis, Mo.

A plaque on the car says, that it was built by "Don Baker" and completed by the shop (?) "The Final Touch".

Does anyone have some history about this?
The pre-owner said, it was probably professionally re-built in the 80's.

Body is in absolutely gorgeos condition, and so is the frame.

    • It`s an all steel body, only trunk lid is fiberglas (which will be changed by me, soon).
    • Sits on the original 34 Ford Frame, boxed partially.
    • Rootlieb steel hood
    • Halibrand Wheels
    • 350 Chevy SBC Engine
    • Stainless Exhaust System
    • TH350
    • 3.95 Gears
    • Chevy Nova 10-bolt axle on coilovers
    • Superbell Frontend with disc brakes
    • Unisteer Rack&Pinion
    • Leather interior
    • Steward Warner Gauges
    • Hurst Shifter

I imported the Car now to Germany. It`s a blast to drive, everything in really good quality.

I will most probably also buy a second set of wheels, 16" with biasplys to give it a more Bonneville-Look.

I`ll keep you updated, or take a look at my blog www.power-fighters.de

Would be great to get some more info & history on the car!

THANKS and all the best from a German H.A.M.B.-Member!

    Timo

  3. Hi, noone knows anything?

  4. The 34 is now officially registered in Germany, really enjoying driving it on the roads over here...now that the weather is getting better and summer is finally here :-D

In winter I will get a set of small bias plys to go more into the saltlake style with the car...

    Thanks!

  5. Last weekend, we made a nice hotrod tour to Nitrolympx Dragrace event in Hockenheim/Germany. The 34 runs sweet on the Germany Autobahn...

I'd like to see it with the new wheels.
I'd bet that's great fun on the Autobahn.
