Thank you! Yes, I really do!
Luckily I have the state of mind to use the cars to do fun stuff with the family once they are done.

I drive my cars pretty much daily so we see a lot of quality time when I’m not building.

So today I got some pieces in place.

    IMG_1881.JPG
    IMG_1882.JPG IMG_1883.JPG IMG_1885.JPG

So first I made the top of the door, after fitting the wood template properly.

Then I cut out the entire top part of the door jamb, and made a new piece that got buttwelded in place before I started fitting the roof piece and screwed it down in place.

    IMG_1887.JPG

Then the magic cookie cutter came out and I cut along the edge of the roof piece and welded as I went along, lifting up the edge with a flat screwdriver to align the metal.

    IMG_1890.JPG IMG_1891.JPG

Still have some fitting along the drop rail and some more work along the roof insert before I can finish weld and hammer it all.

    Emil,
this is high speed. Almost as fast as on the assembly line. By the amount of body work it´s almost as you used the car as a mold and built it again (if you know what i mean).:)
BTW: I´m still searching but prices are insane.
    Good luck

Thank you! I try to be effective, but sometime life comes in between.

Yeah there was a lot of work to be done, which is usually the case when you buy cheap

Yeah, I found this through @thunderbirdesq here on hamb.
I got lucky, and found it at a price I just couldn’t say no to.
Good luck! Your dream is out there man

I saw the ad, but don’t know the guy or car from before.
I know who built the engine for it tho.

The chassis for that car seem really nice.
He lives on the other side of the country from me

You do great work and do it fast! I can’t wait to see you roll it outside to see the new profile. Do you have any finished cars you are using for inspiration?

Thank you! I try to be efficient and still do the car justice.

Not really, I had a sketch that mr eBlack made of a 36 and the 36 Cole foster made for kirk of Metallica.
The latter is a 5 window rebuilt into a 3 window.

I just tried to study the curves of the roof and wanted to make it feel more slick and make it flow like jazz down the back of the car.

So I cut and pasted on my drawing board a bunch so I knew where to cut it before I even had the car at home.
The chop changed a bit when I finally cut it apart tho, took an extra inch off the rear.

Got both sides of the roof welded in, started making some fill pieces for the surround of the roof insert and the inside of the door jamb.

    IMG_1976.JPG
    IMG_1980.JPG

Here you can see I still have some massaging to do on the drip rail before it’s done.

My phone gave out the other day so the camera doesn’t focus anymore, so my photos are more shit than usual.

I Will order a new phone tomorrow but til I get it this is all I can offer up.
    Sorry.

At this point progress is slow, a lot of welding, cooling, grinding, cooling, hammer and dolly, and then rinse and repeat.

Everything needs to be worked over properly so I don’t have to dip the car in bondo when I’m done.

    IMG_2044.JPG IMG_2045.JPG

Photos are still shit.. but the work looks better.

Today I got the top of the roof finish welded, nothing too exciting to look at but this shit tests my patience which I don’t have a great deal of.

    IMG_5956.JPG IMG_5959.JPG

I’m dragging a welding rod along the contour of t he roof to detect any low spots, before hammer and dollying.

    IMG_5964.JPG IMG_6003.JPG IMG_6001.JPG

    Turned out pretty good!
Won’t need a lot of bondo to make this paint ready.

    IMG_6002.JPG IMG_2059.JPG

I don’t know if I’m going to do any more updates until I have finished off the welding on the roof.

Doesn’t seem too exciting to look at photos of that small a change.

You have some skills. Those 35's coupes are among some of the best looking fords produced.
BTW. Did the holes in your wallet match the holes in your coupe? Har, har... Nice job.

    Thank you!

Haha sadly I think the holes in my wallet are bigger it’s harder to fix a car and tool addiction than it is to repair rust, that’s for sure.

If you're born in Sweden do they just hand you a hammer and dolly as you leave the hospital, it seems like every one from Sweden can master metal work.. Your work is excellent!

I dont know, cars are rare and its expensive to get work done over here I think.
So everyone just have to learn.

We also have had a great American car culture here, so most everyone is interested or know someone who are into old cars.
I have been to America quite a bit and I see more old cars here in the summertime than anywhere I have ever been.

One heck of a lot of work, and it appears to be first class work, at that. Congratulations, and continue to keep us posted.

Here’s some photos, it’s slow and tedious to finish weld all this but today I made some good progress.

    IMG_2541.JPG IMG_2543.JPG IMG_2546.JPG IMG_2545.JPG

I also had to make a tool today to be able to hammer in some hard to reach spots, so put a piece of round stock up in my lathe and turned this lil baby.
    Chisel for comparison.
    IMG_2547.JPG IMG_2548.JPG IMG_2512.JPG

    Worked pretty good.

Here’s another photo from when I had it outside.

Will try and post a few more angles later.
I think I will be able to finish up most of the welding on the roof today.

I think it turned out good!
Not too slippery so it looks skinny but enough of a slide to pick up the lines of the side windows and the trunk.
