Some of the older members of the board will remember my Dad's 51 Chev. A couple years ago I built a warmed up 261, turbo 350 and 57 Chev rearend, oh yeah it also was converted to 12 volt. Well this fall I'm going to put a bolt in Mustang II kit from RB's in, like I had nothing else to do. It's getting power disc brakes and power steering. I'll have to fab up a new front motor mount and a power steering pump bracket for the 261. And I'm pulling out the rear end and am going to put a Camaro 10 bolt in it's place. So, I've got this pile of parts. Got to take all of this out. And put it all in this.
B4 you get too deep, I have heard you can do that swap without pulling the motor if you're runnin an inline 6. I think they did that to McPhail's car in a Custom Rodder tech article. If memory serves, they used a weld-in Fatman kit, so your situation might be easier yet. Let us know how it goes!
I checked the Fat Man site, didn't see anything. The motor will still have to come out. I side mounted the motor on the first go around because of the turbo 350 swap. I have to cut the mounts out and the motor is in the way.
So like you have your olds done and you have all the spare time to do this??. if you do, why not come down and finish putting the front sheet metal and etc. on my 48 merc. as i can never find the time to ever get it done. so how is the olds comming along??. Bill p.s. have fun guy.
I wish the Olds was done. Pop's figured I had nothing better to do then work on his car. I'd more then happy to come down and work on the Merc. But you'll have to buy me dinner.......again!
