I have a Muncie 4 speed with drag fast linkage. Doesn't shift very well and sometimes not at all. Looked at it yesterday one of the nuts was loose on the trans 3hd and 4th leaver. So I tight end it up. Now it worse than ever. Tried to adjust the clutch linkage but didn't seem to help.

Also a little more info on shifting, which gear etc...Tightening the 3/4 lever nut and it getting worse makes me think lever is bad and causing shaft to pull out and bottom the internal lever against cover..Some pics if possible..

  6. Not familiar. Can you post a picture? Does it have a center guide pin adjustment?

The leavers on a muncie are a basic two position arm. My guess it your adjustment is not correct. This is based on assuming the trans is in good working order.

If it's a shifter problem. Not tryn' to be smart but, I'd pick up an old big letter Hurst Comp Plus for her. You'll be glad you switched.

Drag Fast is one of the best brands sold. They came with everything one step higher quality than the competition, and once set up correctly gave no trouble. The best Hurst shifter was almost as good as the entry level Drag Fast ....
Assuming you have cleaned and lubed the ass'y, put it in neutral. Loosen all three shift rod adjusters & stick a 1/4'' drill in the alignment hole, then tighten the adjusters.

Picture grabbed from another HAMB thread. Honestly have only heard of them, never seen one up close.

  14. That hole has got to be just under the part with the name, at the top of the shift arms.
It's on the blue painted part of the middle pic, my last post.

I'm not a 100 percent sure that it's the shifter. It seems to shift through the gears when I'm working on it in the garage. But as soon as I take it out for a test drive it won't go from gear to gear. Won't hardy up shift or down shift. I'm not sure the clutch is adjusted right. Look at the clutch fork.[IMG]

  18. That clutch fork may have been extended. Possibly not disengaging fully(?).

That's what I was thinking. You should see the other side. If I pull the spring off it there should be some play in it. But there isnt.

  20. Should be an adjustment there somewhere for free play. Need to figure out how to get some. As the disc wears, free play goes away.
Can you put it in 1st ,from neutral, at a normal idle?
