is it correct that when doing a small block swap into a 40's chevy that all that is needed is a new set of motormounts bolted in?

probably not. most of the 40's chevies had a 216cu straight 6. i know mine in the 49 mounted off the bottom of the timing cover to the front cross member.

I put a small chevy in my 49. I got the mounts from Walton Fabrications. They needed to be welded in. And you'll need to get a trans. x-member as well or modify your a bunch. Then of course you need a rear with open drive.

ok, i knew the rear end and trans mount would need to be changed but for some reason i thought the main engine mounts were an easy swap. thanks for the help

  6. Check with Chassis Engineering. They'll know.
