I used to drag race a 70 Chevelle big block car and it tried to lift the left rear not the right. I put air bags in the coils to compensate . You could see the wear pattern on the left slick. I use a turn buckle instead of a chain That way you can pre load it.

I used a length of chain and a turnbuckle. Tighten it up at the track and loosen just a tad to drive home so the seat buzz wasn't too bad

Got a little done this weekend on the Morris Minor. Got the dash sanded and primed.
Taught the wife to mig weld so she could help put the floor pan in our sons F100 and cleaned and painted all of the parts for a customers engine that I discovered to be locked up. He brought it in to fix some bad body work and bondo work. The previous shop parked it outside with the hood off and it filled the motor up with rain water. Now a complete repaint and many hours of grinding and welding in metal where duct tape and fiberglass was used. 20170122_1649021.jpg

No progress on the as of late. Trying to finish a Torino for a customer and keep finding more bad work
and new problems. Working all day and half the night to get it done.
Also waiting on parts to come in for the Morris. This is sorta what I am shooting for except more tire on the back. 20160830_2026081.jpg

20170203_0758271.jpg I got in my old school M/T valve covers . Trying to decide whether to paint them with black wrinle paint or just buff them out the best I can and clear them.

Just 'glass bead blast' and coat with a quality satin clear, no fuss valve covers.

Don't paint them with wrinkle paint it will take away from the old school look. Just blast them and use them. I don't even put clear on mine because that don't look just right to me. No sure i would even blast them.

  11. This thread really makes me kick myself! At one time I had both a convertible and a traveler, both went to the junkyard when I lost my storage. I couldn't find anyone interested in them, even for free. (late 70s)

Double sump fox body. It is a mockup motor a guy gave me so I don't know much about it. It is a bunch of parts, he said ran when it got pulled. Has a an early 80's block , fox body pan, aluminum 2 barrel intake and a points distributor. It is super clean on the inside.

I've been looking for an aluminum 2bbl for my wife's
95 vert. Gonna get rid of the efi garbage. What is he going to
do with the manifold? And yes, her Mustang has a double
sump oil pan.... and it was more than a quart overfull when
we bought it. Somebody changed the oil and forgot the front
drain plug. I think the guy gave us a good deal because he
thought the block was cracked - but we all know that water
    turns oil milky...

You mean what am I going to do with the manifold ? The motor is mine. How about 20 bucks for the manifold plus shipping ? PM me with your info and I will get a shipping quote. I have started shipping through Fastenal .Takes a little longer ,but much cheaper than anywhere else.

Ford offered their over the counter "cobra" lettered valve covers in black wrinkle with polished fins in 64 or 65. I assume this is the look he was trying to replicate.

No photos, but I found some Ansen Sprint slots for the back and a solid roller cam for the 306.
Hoping to finish the Torino from hell next week so I can get back on the Morris.

Went and got me rear wheels today .thanks Jim. Special thanks to Fiddle Picker for not only having a set of old slicks for me to use for set up , but driving part way down to meet me to drop them off.
    Great guys, both of them.

20170217_1655381.jpg Got the rear end with the wheels mocked up yesterday . Had to open up the inside and outside fenderwells a little more to make room. 28 x 9 inch slicks on 15 x 8 Ansen's. Ride height set at Southeast gassers rule for short wheelbase cars. 10 inches minimum measured at rocker panel in front of rear tire and 11 inches at rocker panel behind front tire. Not a nosebleed street freak.

Pass. side. Still to cut a little more out of the wheel well. Also from the rear to show how much the tire will stick out. Please excuse my messy shop. I have been really trashing on the Torino from hell and haven't had time to clean. 20170217_1656431.jpg 20170217_1656141.jpg

Maybe it's because I haven't touched the car in 2 weeks. Trying to finish a customers car.
Got my front springs mounted and my axle drilled over the weekend. Here's a picture of the narrowed and drilled front axle. 20170305_1456091.jpg

You might want to have a bit more distance from the rear tire to the fender I case you hit a good bump, as you don't want to bend your fender

On my 37' the body man was able to roll the sheet metal under to form a rolled edge, so the sharp edge will not cut your tire

Maybe you can weld in a tube for your finished edge

    Neat looking gasser, DND

Thanks , I am going to make one more cut on the wheel wells and split some conduit and mold it to the fender to give it a finished look. Don't need the fender to put a slice in the tire in case this Cadillac gets a little sideways. Nothing like a 89 inch wheelbase 4 speed car launching at 6 grand.

They look more period if the roll is flush with the outside surface of the fender, and not so much like a custom car with a molded bead

Got my front axle up under the car finally . Got the steering rod shortened and installed. Still need some caster wedges and some ubolts. Now I can put the brakes back on and get some front wheels. 20170312_1858001.jpg
