https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Moroso-26100-Distributor-Timing-Indicator,586.html The instructions state that this tab will raise the distributor up from it's normal position about .062." Is this something i need to be worried about; i'm basically running a stock setup?
Yes, it does appear that it would work well, but what I was wondering is would the distributor now being raised.062” off the deck of the intake cause any problems, oil pump engagement among other things.....?
Cute but I'd really have to wonder if it would be worth the coin for the average guy. I can see it for the racer who is wanting to change the timing a degree or two on a regular basis between runs but for most of us it isn't that much of a hassle to pull the timing light out nor do we change the timing very often.
I don't think you need to worry about it being raised that amount. If you're concerned about the 0.062 gut the distributor, chuck it in the lathe and take a cut off the flange.
That is a valid point, but i'm having trouble (i think so at least) seeing the mark on the balancer. Power steering pump in the way doesn't help either. And it's true, once i find the sweet spot, i'll probably leave it. But i do want to do some experimenting with timing before then. Does anyone have any suggestions to make timing the conventional way easier? Timing tape? etc.?
