All righty, This week got my new 4 inch blocks (thanks Outlaw!) in the rear end. Suspension, Done. Dash is painted and put back together. Got my new night prowlers steering wheel in. Got all the wiring hooked up and with a new fuse block all systems are fused and ready. Then threw a battery in pumped it a few times and VARROOOMM! The engine sounds great! So after a week of good progress and an evening of body work I thought I'd turn the photo shoppers loose on her. I really have no good ideas right now, accept maybe Hank Cash can photo shop me a hot date sitting in the passengers seat. Nothing gay! So have at it gang.
Hey, on Sunday we'll take a profile pic on the driveway. It'll be a lot easier for 'em to photoshop. Of course, you know everyone is going to "chop" it!!!
I'll be thrashin' all day Saturday and on Sunday afternoon from about 2pm on. Scottys bringing his mig over so we can start zappin' holes in the rockers on Saturday. buzz I need to barrow your sawzall and get that cross member cut down. You free on Sunday Reggie? Or Saturday? Shit just got paged time to get back to work, Reg I'll call you in a bit.
Krupa, In my opinion...I wouldn't chop that car just yet. If I were you, I would just paint it and drive it ASAP. I think you need to get some miles in that car. A chop will only add to the torture. I thought it looked great 3 years ago without a chop. Darker paint on the roof will visualy lower it. If I had that car I would do a freeway scallop job on it with greens and golds. There is a killer example of a paint job like that in Customs of the 50's. Let me know if you have that book and I'll tell you which page it's on. If not, I'll try to get a picture of it posted. After a few months or a year of solid transportation, I would consider chopping it, but I doubt you would really be all that interested.
Anti-c, Don't wanna chop it, guess I was'nt too clear. Just want paint ideas. I dig it stock height ala Grapevine. The sawzall is just to trim back the tranny cross member so we can get the new super duper hotwheel fabed unit in. I'll shoot a better pic this weekend when I can roll her out into the driveway. Then maybe all the photo shop guys can give me some ideas. I'm thinking I'll go suede again. There's so much bondo in the front end I'll most likely replace the fenders in the far off future. I'm gonna get it all as straight as I can but I think a garage squirt job and some kind of scallops to jazz it up and cover some rough stuff is the best way to procede. Not much to do to get it rolling. Tanny mount Box the motor mounts Drive shaft Pop the windshield in. I still have to find the vent window frames and the rocker mouldings. They're down at the shop some where. I loved to see the picture, don't have the Customs book, got the Hot Rods of the 50's Thanks for the kick in the pants to keep going. I'm starting to feel good about the car again, seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
If I can help with the PhotoShop 1:1 (specific color combos, graphix, etc..) let me know. Be glad to help.
Krupa, I'm glad you decide to finish that car out. A beautiful car is your best revenge. I love that your club has really rally around to help you. Here's the type of paint job I think would look great on that car. That car looked so good in green, why not hit it with some green again. If you're worried about shooting it in the garage. You should really look into the Createx auto air line of paint. It's non-toxic, cheap and easy to work with. It covers so well that you use half as much paint and you don't have to mix in the reducer. You really just squeeze the paint from the bottle into the gun. I used it on the mini bike. You have to clear it or it will wash off, but you could do a nice some what elaborate paint job for less than the standard single color job. Anyways, you can buy satin clear coats, and clear coats are easy to spray. In my opinion, I would just hit it with a good base coat that you can work graphics onto later. This way you can drive it as soon as possible. I'm sure this is your plan anyways.
What Anti C said buddy! Really is great to see you guys diggin into that car. She's really coming along.
Hey Krupanut whet kind of bike is that hanging on the wall? It looks alot like the Murray Meteor Flite I picked up recently.

That is one of my favorite cars ever (56 in the pic). Not really into that flavor but that car is oh so right. Most don't pull it off that well. Green 53 from Rodders journal is one that got it right as well. My2cents. Krupanut it would look good chopped or not.
Krupa, Im right there with ol Anti-C on that Auto Air paint by Createx. Made by the same folks that make the paint I use for airbrushin shirts. Im fixin to shoot flames on my 23T with the stuff. Easy to use, clean ups a breeze, and the color selection is great! Pearls,Candys,Flake, they got a little of everything. The price is right also. As far as ideas go ,I sure dug that Watson style chevy at the Roundup. Seaweed flames would be cool also but they are a bitch to lay out.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the info guys, I'll definently check out the Createx stuff. I thought about some crab claw flames ala Jeffies, Fatluckys said he'd lay em' out, but I don't know what the hell I want now I guess I have plenty other things to get done before I worry about paint. Arrons scalloped Chevy is one of my favorite cars of all time. I was freaking out when he pulled in on friday of roundup weekend. I'm gonna take some decent side pics this weekend and send them to 62buford for some photoshop ideas.
"Jeeeze" that doesn't look anything like what I saw 2 years ago....! Keep going Shaun cause you're not going to get anything for it looking that way! Question..., "How do you eat an Elephant"...? "One Bite at a time"...!! You can do it man!!! Mark
[ QUOTE ] "Jeeeze" that doesn't look anything like what I saw 2 years ago....! [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, remember the "good ole days"
I think the Darker roof is an excellent idea!!! Could someone photo shop the above picture with a Darker roof than the body??? Mark
Looking good there Krup. You gotta stay on it to keep those Chevys on the road before all those 49-50 Ford guys take over. I really like the early 50's Chevys.
