I ve had an old cam for years, wrapped in a 1968 newspaper, that says 413-426 superstock on the box. It is for B/RB Mopar ..Anyone have any specs? I was thinking of running this in my (65 Imperial) 413, in my Henry J. I have searched all over the net, and haven't found any numbers on it.

That is the biggest problem with Mopar cams.... some have numbers, other don't. Even with numbers I have not found anyone with a list of numbers that cross to part numbers. I have several old purple shafts around the shop and the only way to identify them is measure the lift and set up the cam in a block and degree it to see what the duration specs are. Even at that, some are close to factory spec numbers but not always a match.

  3. they were about 520 lift for a max wedge. i have the specs i will look for them.

For the 1961 Chrysler 413 they had 3 cams. Standard was 252 degrees duration. SonoRamic 2X4 barrel 300G engine had a 268 degree cam. Special order optional racing cam 284 degree.

  5. there was also a rc-92 with 292 degrees of duration for the 413 max wedge. the 64 max wedge 426 came with 300 intake and 308 exhaust with 74 degrees overlap 520 lift. this info was gathered from martyn schorrs books vol. 1 and 2 mopar dodge and plymouth the performance years.

Thanks for the info and reference. Does the orange stripe on it mean anything?

Question. Is it a cam out of a S/S 413 or 426. Or is it a cam out of a 413 or 426 that someone was running in S/S? If it's the second, it could be big. A lot of engine builders had their Secret Weapon cam. And had them ground with no numbers. A couple of V-blocks and a dial indicator should tell you the lift. That would be a good starting point.

A lot of companies sold cams that they advertised as "Super Stock". Cam Doctor is the only way to know for sure what you have.

I remember a '61 Plymouth running a 413 and a 4-speed that ran at the Grand Island drag strip in Nebraska way back when---they called it Banzai. Ran like hell. There were a number of what we called the "duckbutt" cars that ran really good. No corporate crap back then.

You have a cam doctor if you have a degree wheel , dial indicator and a piston stop.
D o you have some time to have the Henry J down?
