Crappy touring front half. Reworked cowl top and door mods to fill to recurved cowl top. Duvall style windshield frame from 1-36 Ford upper, and 2 lower windshield frames with a lot of metal bending/welding to make fit the cowl. Hand made box, part of an old Case tractor grille reworked into grille shell. Model A frame Z'd 3 3/4" in rear, 41 ford banjo with open drive conversion, 36 Front axle with spring behind on 37 bones, rear suspension is 46-48 short bones with torque arm from same, model A spring behind. 39-41 brakes all around, set up for 153 Chevy with a T50 Vega/Monza transmission behind. It is a spare parts build to help clean out the shed.

Love all these T's! But some of them just leave me flat. It's mostly the Bucket's, and certainly not all of them, some are totally bitchin, but there's something about some of them that I just don't like. After looking at a lot of these pics, it seems to me that the placement of the box, the height in relation to the cab, is critical. It can't be too high or too low, it's got to be right. Same with the radiators/shell. They need to be at least even with or below the height of the cowl, but many are ridiculously low/short. Combine a box placed too high with a ridiculous small radiator and it screws the lines all up. Yeck! The lines from the box forward to the shell need to have a slight angle down, but not too exaggerated. Just my opinion, of course. The other thing is the top, I just don't like the exaggerated high tops, and in fact a chopped look is best, again IMO. Though with some of them it makes me wonder how you get into the damn thing, with no drives side door, a chopped top and side pipes, lol, must have to be part contortionist to get in I guess! But damn, that's a great look.

Here's one that gets it right (wouldn't want that box any higher though!):

The red one in this pic has the right lines too, IMO:

So does this one, and it's got the chopped top look I really like:

I wouldn't mind less wide rear wheels though, but I'm not offended by the disc brakes at all, I like stopping power and control, and in light of the recent news of a long time hot rodder crashing his duece roadster and suffering critical injuries, I'm even more of that mind.

Anyway, I'm only part way through this thread, got a lot more pics to drool over!

The only problem with that one is pickups aren't allowed at TROG.

Well that and the fact that it isn't mine, that's a problem too...

So take the box off and knock together a quick and dirty speedster tail out an old Ford hood?

In that recent accident you are referring to the car could have had no brakes at all.
Discs or drums are not an issue when there is no time to react and use the brakes.

Ron Hickman ran into the side of a truck that turned or pulled out in front of him and never had time for brakes.

Anecdotal, it doesn't matter if that particular incident could have been avoided or not, the point of stronger braking, and maybe even more important, better control, is still valid. I'm just saying, I'm not bothered by the presence of the discs at all. They may not have the same visual appeal as finned Buick drums, but the increased safety makes up for that IMO. And that is just my opinion, you don't have to share it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, this much is true.

But this thread is for sharing bitchin' hotrod T's and not debating the esthetics of braking systems.

    Thanks guys

So here's a shot of my RPU with the Rod Tops top in place.
The whole thing is coming apart soon for paint and chrome.

This one does it for me. I love the "homemade" aspects like the tow bar brackets. Not so much the square rollbar.

Quick connect for headlights? If so it's slick.
