I don't care for the '25 and earlier T's with fenders but a '26-7 looks cool with stock fenders. They look even cooler yet with '28-9 fenders. JMO

I'll have to find a picture of my cousin's 23 (I think) T-bucket. it's red with fenders. Sharp! He drives it to the rod run twice a year.

Would depend on the car, but I personally don't think that most of them would look right with fenders. But again that is just my opinion.

  5. That's what's cool about this hobby: You can enjoy whatever version you like. I personally like full-fender '26-'27s like Austin's, but I also think that all T's look good fenderless. To each his own.

Here are some pictures from Hot Rod July '60 issue of a "T" I used to catch a glimpse of now and then driving by as a teen in the '50s while visiting cousins in San Lorenzo. The article said it was built by Don Brusseau in San Lorenzo Ca. I grew up in Oakland.

Okay a little geography lesson. Everybody knows where San Francisco Ca. is. Oakland in across the bay east of S.F. San Leandro is a bedroom community just south of Oakland and San Lorenzo is just south of that. There is no dividing line (other than signs) they just run together.

Anyway by the early '90s when I got my "T" on the street. I was living in San Leandro. I was taking it for a shakedown run when a rather small redheaded guy frantically flagged me down. He claimed to have owned the "Go T" at one time when he worked at Vic Hubbard Speed and Marine in Hayward sometime in the '60s. Okay Hayward is just south of San Lorenzo. I'm sure he wasn't the builder but I gave him a ride and we had a good talk.

I couldn't help noticing in the side view, doesn't it look a lot like Royalshifter's bucket. Wonder if there is any connection. Royal couldn't have picked a better "T" for inspiration.

If anybody has any knowledge of this rod, the builder or the redheaded stranger it would be fun to hear.

Don't know anything about the red head guy, but thanks for posting that article! I have that mag, but for some reason the first page of the article was torn out of my copy... Always loved that car - just from the side view!

Just contacted a friend of Don Brusseau. He is still around and still owns his roadster.
    I'll keep you posted.

  12. okay...
that Brusseau T has me thinking...

i've seen footage of a guy climbing into Grabowski's T with the top on... with a door.
I've crawled into Royalshifters T with the top on... with a door.

do you have to be a gymnast to crawl into one of these things with the top on and no door?

I would say yes. I don't know how you would get into one with a top without a door unless you were twelve years old.
When I have the top on mine I do open the door and bend over and walk
in. and Royal's lower than mine. Maybe he's double jointed.

That must be why they started putting those tall tops on fiberglass T's in the '60s

Yes you do. They're a bitch to get into and out of with a top. That's why i run mine without the top.

This guy has the answer to the top with no doors question. Might be a little complex with the levers, gas shocks, latching cables, etc. but it sure does the job. Click here for more info and video.>

I'm a real advocate of k.i.s.s. especially on buckets. But that' just me.
