Like to know what backspace wheels you guys with s10 rears are using i want to go 7 inch wide rim with 235 75 15 on rear I’m running fenders so need a backspace that wont rub inner or outer edge of fenders. I know a few of you are using the s10 rears but I don’t remember reading anything about the backspace. If there is a thread on this that is ok too. Thanks. It’s a 31 coupe

Those size tires probably will rub the fender regardless of backspace.

I don’t think so I’ve read on threads here that guys are running that size but they never say what backspace they are running. That is what I’m trying to find out.

  5. S-10? is that pre 65? What ever happened to math?

I have a 26 T with a 97 S10 2wd rear and 235 75 R15 tires . I reversed 7 inch wheels and have 2 3/4 inch back space. Not on the road yet but can not see any problem. Could actually go to a 8 inch wheel and keep the tires inside the fenders

What does the S10 rear measure WMS to WMS?

Thanks kr, i heard 3 3/4 but that seemed a little close to the inside. Hoping i can get a few more responses cause I don’t want to make a big money mistake.

I have a S-10 2WD rearend (about 54" at the wheel mounting flanges) that I was going to use in my '31 Coupe, but I decided a different route. Based what I came up with when I was trying to figure things out on the rearend width, tire selection etc., I agree with what krgdowall said in the post above.

Jaw 54 3/4 i think Carnut.com has a rear end width chart for a lot of ford gm and Chrysler rears if you need something else.

You should pull out your own tape measure and measure your own car. I wouldn't trust somebody else's measurements when I have my own car sitting in the garage.

Kind of wanted to see how they where sitting in the wells also with the backspace they used.

  14. What do you have so far? if you have the rear in the car; bolt on a fender, set a tire under there, and do a little measuring. Should be able to come up with a plan. You may have to spread and block the tire to simulate the rim width.

Oh yeah, you should specify coupe/roadster or sedan; wheel wells are kinda different between the two.

I was going to use an S10 rear end under my 30 and after I mounted it I still needed about 2" spacers behind reversed rims to clear the body. I also had mocked up a S10 5 speed behind my flathead and didn't like where the shifter came out and went back to an early ford trans and banjo rear end.
