How about mis matched within the same wheel type? Fronts are 15x6 International Dragmasters in aluminum. Large open spaces between the spokes.
Rears are magnesium Americans 15 x 10. They look very close .

Now that's odd, no not the wheels, but the coincidence.
My first car was a black 61 Impala, it had black painted Dragmasters and (I think) Americans on it when I bought it in 1969 and it had those ET caps too, even as a kid I thought those oblong caps were a bit strange.

I vote for 5 spokes in front and steel wheels out back

  4. Well I was working on the 55 and a reversed wheel is not going to properly fit on the rear of my wagon. Im using a 69 fairlane 9 inch rear housing. Its one inch narrower drum to drum than the stock tri five rear end. and I moved the rear springs inboard in line with the frame. So I have plenty of room on the back side. I have about a inch and a half between the body and tire sidewall with the aluminum slot wheel . mag coil 007.JPG ruff -n-tuff 005.JPG However I do not want to radius the rear wheel openings on this car. At present its a bare bones drag car. But it could become a street driven ride in the future. So a reversed rim would put the 10 inch wide slick too far out it would rub. and a standard rear offset stock steel wheel just don't look any better than the aluminum slot wheel. But In my hoard I have two 15 inch ford Torque thrust type wheels that will fit in my wheel well confines. So I think that's the way it going to be . I last ran those 15 inch ford mags on the rear of a 55 ford 2 dr post 40 years ago.

  11. @Lloyd's paint & glass, exactly what are they? Brand, size, offset, tires? Inquiring HAMBers want to know! Hell, one of these dudes with the private, can't use 'em all in one lifetime stashes might even have a pair of front runners. With all the money you're going to win racing, It'll be easy to buy them!

  12. Don't know what the rear is, they're 15X10 is all I know. Front is 15X4.5. Rear tire is a 275-60 and the front is a 165-80. I'm good with it. Rather have slots on the front but it'll wait :D;)

  13. I almost want to call them Halibrands, but that's not it. Really close, though, with the squared holes. I like 'em.

The rear's look like American's, with the square-ish slot's. Ansen and other's were more kidney bean shaped.

  15. Both Dads coupe and the Valiant rock mismatched wheels at times. We have two different full sets of rolling stock for both, but mix and match at times. 5Y9A9638.jpg 207397205_10218432674028498_6075692834411134426_n (1).jpg

    They don't match, for now.

I like that "imperfectness" about 60s hot rods. There are plenty of magazines and books covering 60s hot rods where there's a passing mention about the mismatch, trying different set-up, etc.

I am planning on another set, I will still run 16x4s up front unless I can find a set of 15x4s.

A set of vintage ETs all the way around would be cool but I will likely go chrome (and they may differ slightly front to rear).

My '57 has mismatched wheels on it because I had these tires for another project that hasn't been getting anywhere and I wanted to use them up before they aged out. But now after a few years the tires are getting old and worn and I've got a really nice matched set of chrome reversed wheels for the car so this might be the last season for them. Paint would be nice, too. We'll see.
