I can see them even if I log out... Not sure why you can't see them. They are in my Album and it should be public and open to all.

I found one of those star knob plates at a rummage sale really cheap and I was all excited about it but it turns out it won't fit a single knob on my house, it's made for a door with a further inset knob (mine has little side spears that stick out too far) so I stuck it on a cabinet in my shop.

While looking for that picture I stumbled across these, a house just outside my hometown has this really cool wrought iron corner post that I've always liked, so I made one for my house out of a big hand rail I found at a rummage sale. Turned out good. It's full height, these are the only pics I've got.

  7. I just bought this Heywood-Wakefield desk on Facebook Marketplace for $240. It needed work so I restored it to it's former glory over the last couple of weeks. A guy on Ebay sells the correct formula stain/finish for it. This is the wheat color. Turned out pretty good and better than paying retail at an antique store. I have a bitchin' Futura nightstand that I will be doing to match soon. This is damn cool furniture. IMG_1617.JPG

  10. I have chairs but they are at the dining room table. I need something more comfortable to sit in than that while I surf.

  11. I live in St. Catharines, that place is about 6 blocks from my house. Always loved it, and for years it was not quite neglected, but maintained without a lot of respect. Last time it changed hands was only about 5 or 6 years ago, I think it went for something like $475k. My GF at the time, now my wife, and I talked about it but we weren't even living in the same city at the time (not the same city as the house or each other). I'd heard the new renos weren't in tune with the house, but thankfully it's looking pretty good. Lots of mid-century and mid-century-revival (early '70s) houses in that neighbourhood, nothing else that's quite that impressive though.

Awesome looking place. Will try to get by and see it from the street sometime.

Just got a new Moss lamp the other day ... unfortunately it came without an original shade, so this one came from Lamps Plus. fullsizeoutput_2df.jpeg

I found this desk sitting next to a dumpster, it was just thrown there. Someone just dropped it off and it was filthy, nothing a little bleach couldn’t take care of. After some massaging and touch up it sits in my home office. [IMG]

Just finished this lamp. A friend makes the shades...and does a great job at it! 20190221_105408 (2).jpg

  19. Nice. I need a contact for a good shade person. We come across lamps missing shades a lot

  20. I’ve had a few tanker desks, they are awesome old things. I used to strip them to bare metal and refinish them. I actually just pulled my last one out of storage and sold it in the last couple of weeks. The ones with the rounded tops go for pretty good money.

I just found this thread and was enjoying it very much. Low and behold, here I am mentioned in the article in Atomic Ranch with my bro Jon Pearson's home. I am sololobo on here but a lot of folks know me as Retro Larry as I had a vintage store in Omaha for 25 years called Retro Recycle. The tulip dining set was a house warming gift from me. There are some other pieces scattered though out the house as well from my stash. The living room drapery material is one of the special items, silk Escher type print in gold and black, super cool fabric that was a score at a Catholic thrift store in Lincoln, Ne., they were free for the taking! I am going to try and photo up and share some of our items from our house.

Man I love MCM stuff. I am partial to teak stuff but my wife prefers otherwise so we have a pretty mixed bag of furniture. We’re still working on refining everything we have and are at the lower end of the budget but gotta start somewhere!

Picked up this case a while ago

My wife picked up the bar a while ago and the chairs came from a friend. Table is off-topic.

Grabbed this G-plan set a while back. Will work better in the new house.

Another case. I added the legs to it. Project lamp in the corner.

Since this thread seems to be the official Mid-Century dumping ground, I thought I'd do a show & tell on these guys. I know, they are beyond kitschy. But, before you laugh too hard, I think I uncovered an interesting fact about them. I got them on Epay a while ago for about $40. Who could resist? The story goes that the seller was cleaning up his folk's estate & ran across them in the basement, long forgotten. He says that his father was a business associate of some manager of the Trader Vics in NYC. When they were renovating the place in the early '60's, the employee offered them to the seller's dad. I guess the wife wouldn't allow them in the main living quarters & relegated them to the basement, where they sat for 50 plus years. Now I've got them, a little worse for wear, but mostly intact. Since I didn't know much about Trader Vic's, I did some Googling & found out that the founder, Vic Bergeron, was also an artist & supposed inventer of the Mai-Tai cocktail. Although his main gig was large bronze sculptures, some of which adorn public places throughout the country, he was also a fine artist. Pursuing the matter further, I happened across a few of his renderings for sale by some art dealer. One of them was a werewolf drinking a Pina Colada (at Trader Vic's, of course) & the style of painting & coloring was identical to my two tiki dudes! So, although I have no proof or credible provenance (as they always harp on at the Antiques Road Show), I'll bet an Auburn gauge panel that my wall art was done by Mr. Bergeron himself to liven up his restaurant. Mysteries are fun.

Well we can't have a furniture topic without accessories, right? Who else loves these black glazed panther planters?

  27. I restored this Heywood-Wakefield coffee table just recently and still have to finish my nightstand. I'll post a pic of the finished table later. It's just sanded down here. The legs on the nightstand are killer. IMG_1733.JPG IMG_1734.JPG
