So...I was just thinking about this the other day. I think I may have been around the age of 10, so about 24 years ago. Growing up in and around Flint, I was definitely subject to cars. My best friend back then's dad was a car junkie. Projects going on all the time, and piles of cars and parts in the garage, I remember going to a weekend long car show with them every summer. I feel like it was out in Marshall or Charlotte. Anybody else remember this weekend show? Does it still happen? I definitely remember this being where my obsession started. Old cars, exhaust smell, muffler "rapping" contests, seeing the Temptations play..... So many good memories.
I'm From St.Joe, Benton Harbor, and was in Constantine for 2 years in highschool That count? There is a big show around Kalamazoo as well I think. It was mostly kustoms, they passed thru Constantine on the way to the show. I dreamed of getting my '63 Buick Ambulance running to attend! never made it
Run to the Fountain I think it's called. That's in Marshall. There is one mothers day weekend in Coldwater, and then the NRSA nat's north in Kalamazoo. I can't think of any other weekend long shows.
Been to all the shows mentioned when I lived in Mi. Sometimes I catch one when I'm back there. Really miss Frankenmuth & the one they had in Lower Huron Metro Park. They have some good ones here in Az. you just have to drive a little further. Sure don't miss the cold/snow.
I think the "Fiesta of the 50s" might be it! I remember it being at the fairgrounds, and us camping there!
I think "Fiesta of the 50's" became "Run to the Fountain" when it changed promoter. Spent many a 4th at the show, camping. How come I don't remember you there ..
Lol...cuz I was 10. I remember there was a roasted almond stand there right by the grandstands every year. The owners would give me and my buddy each a bag to walk around and "promote" for them! Good times...
