I'm having seat covers made for my truck in red metalflake vinyl. The guy that is sewing them up for me has never worked with it before. He just sent me a message and is having a hard time getting the material through the machine. He said it's sticking to everything. Does anybody that has worked with this type of vinyl have any suggestions? I told him maybe dish soap or wd40. Any input is appreciated. Thanks Mat
you can use.......i dont know the name in english but the thin paper you pack sandwishes in. if you put it over the vinyl and sew throgh it and then remove the paper when your done
I dunno, but my better half has made about a gazillion diner booth seats out of that stuff over the years... She never mentioned any problems with it sticking to anything.
My wife sewed up a metalflake vinyl seat cover for my mini bike and had the same problem. We ended up putting sheets of wax paper from the kitchen drawer on top and under and just sewed through it. Worked great but it made it more difficult to see what your sewing. When we were done sewing that section we just tore it off, it came off like perforated paper and not much stayed under the stitching. Just my $.02.
Yes its probably the name in english its abit slipery like its waxed i use it for sewing sticky vinyl
My wife made a vinyl top for sedan out of the stuff, she used silicone spray, and it did a fine job. She said she used a "leather" needle too.
Thanks for the replies. My guy sent me an email, he has one done now. He did say it was pain in the ass though.
