Just how bad does a crank have to be scarred from fine metal particles, before it starts affecting oil pressure. Running your finger nail over journals, can just feel scratch lines. Engine (327) was a fresh build, and pressure has been poor from the get go. From cold start, could only manage to get to 30lbs Car getting make-over so decided to pull motor apart. What other than bad crank causes poor oil pressure.

Maybe the parts weren't cleaned properly before assembly. Your crank will probably need grinding. All the parts both new and old need to be spotless. It only takes a tiny bit of dirt to cause you trouble.

Crank was ground 10 thou. I did suspect it lacked the spotless cleaning required. Its not a lot of metal, but enough
Don't think I'll get away with just a polish. Another 10 thou should get it right..
Small filings were in sump so I be chucking the filter.
    Cheers

Metal could be coming from elsewhere and crank wear is secondary.
    Strip engine and check everything.

For sure, cheers. Will be getting the full check and clean. Cam lobes and lifters look perfect.

  7. Cut open the filter as suggested, see how much was caught from going through your system.
