I like how it came floating down, I expected it to break up when it landed.

What did the body look like after it made contact with the ground?

It looked like a kite coming down to the ground. Definitely one for the books. I wish I had my camera handy . . .

Here's the pic my friend Mike Morgan grabbed about a second after the top lifted off. He said one sec it was there, the next he snapped the shot and the body was gone! Look at the rear tires, off kilter.

It floated for awhile then it just fell like a ton of bricks, it was right in front of our swap spot. There was a camara guy right there, he started to run and when he realized the body had some hang time he started takin shots. LOL!!!

Yea I was shooting at the line when it happened. Got some cool pics of it just hanging there.
That thing had to have been at least 100 feet up!

BTW, the Red Dragon Team has some bitchin' shirts and I'm sure that they could use the support right now.

  19. There's a lesson here. I'm not sure the nostalgia funnies have the burst panel to relieve the pressure when they bang the blower. The tank ran out of fuel...the motor went lean and BANG.
Without a burst panel, the body took all the pressure.

  20. Yeah, they have a burst panel on the body in front of the injector hat.
I was standing in front of the stands at about 330'. that body looked like it was waaaaay up there. also looked like it gently floated down too from where I was. It was a great weekend.
