Manuals/ 6 volt to 12 Volt

I've been searching for a CHilton or Hayes manual for my 51 chevy but have had no luck. Every web site that claims to sell them opens up to parts but no manuals. Any suggestions? Also would like to convert my car from 6 volt to 12 volt. What is involved in doing this? Thanks for any/all help.
