I did a search and didn't find any other posts about this. Cool story, with pics, about a man finding two woodies, a '39 Plymouth and a '48 Ford. http://www.oldcarsweekly.com/article/long_forgotten_woodies/ Drool, drool.
Thanks for sharing the article. What a lucky guy.. and he had to keep that secret for years i bet to ensure no one else went over the ford...
Imagine buying both of those cars back in the day and putting them away for all that time. I still cant. That would be like hitting the lottery for me to open the door of that trailer. Id have woodies for life if I was that dude.
Man I would have that Plymouth in a second! The Plymouths always had nice wooden bodies..they have a wooden floor where the Fords do not..I would make them safe to drive and leave them alone! Too many perfect Ikea woodies out there now..seems noone appreciates a good original woodie..so what if some wood is "bad"..gives the cars character..Hell my old man drove our 37 Ford woodie around for years with the drivers door completely missing! I can only hope these dont end up with bleached out wood and a gold chainer sitting behind the wheel.... Loved seeing the wagons in that state! Thanks for posting!
i found a 47or 48 ford one out in the woods almost completely wasted. but you can still somewhat makeout the old brushed on flame paint job on the front end
I came across the same Old Cars Weekly "Collector beats termites to long-forgotten woodies" article ... and was gonna share it with the HAMB community ... but saw that dvs beat me to it! (the search feature is your friend) Anyway ... a very cool story! 1939 Plymouth Woodie Station Wagon 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Woodie Station Wagon
