I didn't see any. Is it hinged with a hood prop?

Plans for taillights? Hub caps?

 

Looks great Nick! Have you tried it at speed with the tonneau on? On the T I had issues with the snaps letting loose in certain conditions. If I were to do it over I would have used a few "common sense" fastners.

Funny - I just answered your questions on FB
I'm putting the same '37 Ford taillights back on it, right under the body at the rear corners.
Will put the '46 caps back on for now, but I'm not sure I'll keep them. An off-white/cream colored pinstripe(s) on the wheels might help, too.

Haven't had it up to speed yet - waiting for the stupid snow to melt around here. Should be able to drive it tomorrow after work. We do have a plan to sew in 'stiffeners' (rigid plastic strap) if the tonneau moves/flops to much from the wind. What are 'common sense' fasteners? The type that you twist the top of it to lock the tonneau down?

 

I thought I read you were going to change up the taillights? The 37 Ford lights are nice and simple and will keep the rear clean.

My suggestion for caps are 40 Ford Standard. I've got em on my roadster and love the simplicity. Would work well with some of the other styling cues you've got going on.

 

I borrowed an old set of caps from my buddy Jason (in the photo below). Don't recall what year they are. Will run them to Austin and possibly figure another set out.

Brought the car home from my buddy, Clint's garage tonight. He sewed up the tonneau cover and helped finish up some wiring and other misc. items.

With the new engine, man is it fun to drive! The valve covers are leaking quite a bit from the breathers, since they don't have baffles in them. Will have to take care of that.

Getting close to being ready for the Lonestar Round Up. A few little items left, including install the sill plates/rocker pieces.

Nick, yes, the Common sense fastners are the twist type. I used a fiberglass rod from a garden supply to stiffen the cover. You can slip it in a sleeve and make it removable.

 

Have not seen the car since Bonneville when the rain started. I like the new lights and the color. Looks very nice. Good work!

 

The roadster looks great Nick. I dig the unpainted hood. Will it get polished or painted?

 

Are you going to take it back to Bonneville this year? I can't make it to Austin.

 

Thanks, Trent - My friend, Clint, ended up sewing sleeves in the tonneau cover and we slipped fiberglass rods in them. Has worked great so far.

I hope to make Bonneville, but may not have enough vacation time or funds to go this year.
