I like rev-limiters that are the stuff of legends.

Mine is on the end of my right leg ... :D

  3. A magneto distributer? Is it a distributer that looks like a magneto or???

Nedd and I use the same type of rev limiter, they work good if properly installed. ;)

  4. If it is a Magneto Electronic Distributor that Hunt and Vertex sell, then The Digital Rev Limiter that PerTronix sells will work perfectly.
If it is a true Mag, then NO, not that I know of.

    Howdy Don:
There are a few ways to do this.
Some of them are depending on the type of Mag you have.
Also some just cut the Mag cold and must be manually reset.
Heres some examples below without getting into MSD or electronic Mags.

    There is:
    Autometer...http://www.autometer.com/cat_accessorieslist.aspx?pid=23

    PSI type.......http://www.goodvibesracing.com/UsedParts/PSIREVLIMITER3.JPG

    ETC....http://www.etcrevlimiters.com/

Older Moroso - Stahl type.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=660561

With the autometer you need the inductive pickup.
The Moroso and PSI type can be set with someone with a distributor machine.
    Good luck

Seeing that I've never used a Mag ever in my life has not stopped me from thinking about this. Don't you kill or stopped the mag from fireing by grounding it out?. Now, if you had a Tach with an adjustable Red Line or Rev Limiter or some other form of voltage signal at said limit RPM. Couldn't you use that signal to operate a relay to ground out the Mag?

This sounds just like what a shift light controller does. Put a chip in for the right RPM and it grounds the bulb to turn it on.
I'd let the controller kick a relay to do the grounding.

Magneto distr, like the real old mallory? I would imagine so, they used a coil and a rev limiter would short it out.
A magneto - magneto like mallory supermag? yes, i have one from autometer and they connect into the wire to the kill switch.

I am installing an ECT magneto rev limiter in the morning along with a joe hunt tach signal converter on a joe hunt vertex style mag on A 427 ford engine in my 32.
The installation looks to be real simple and I will be able to tell tomorrow If and how well these components work
I will post my results as soon as know.

  13. Well none of us have ever been in a race car before. Real glad you clarified that for us.
