I´m going to put muncie behind my stroker 59a flatty. I think the easiest way is to order Offy adapter from Speedway. Then comes the hard part, they are offering two models. One wich uses ford throwout lever, fork and bearing and one wich uses chevy parts. What i don´t understand is that if i choose to buy the one made for ford parts, how the hell can i use ford throwout bearing in muncie? Seems to me that ford bearing is waaaayyy too big. Is everything that i will need included in those adapter sets? Now guys with experience and knowledge please speak. Thanks, Jaypee
The throwout bearing will need an adapter ring, no matter which kind you use. Either to neck the Ford bearing down to the Chevy collar, or widen the Chevy bearing up to the Ford pressure plate arms. I have the Chevy version in my '40 and think the linkage was tough to make. I have a Ford version hangin on the wall, and if I had it earlier I would have used it in the '40 instead. If you are using stock Ford pedals and a mostly stock crossmember area, I would reccomend the Ford-style bellhousing. I purchased both of my bellhousing used, and neither came with the throwout bearing adapter rings, or pilot bearings. Your local machinist can make either, though. But I bet the new kits come with the bushings and bearings. - alchemy
Thanks for the info. I thought about the adapter ring also ít´s not a problem. I´m going to make hydraulic clutch with "ansen" style pedal. Ford version might be more suitable for that application, cause´chevy has kinda "floating" clutch lever. What you think? Jaypee
YOp that's what i did! i have a truck clutch mecanism with the pilot bearing and i made a adaptor tube (real easy to make) to fit the thin M20 guide! And it works great! chevy style is not old style!!!! and the mecanism with the cluch pedal is easier to make! Good luck
