    Hey Lincoln Y people...

I have been looking for torque values for mains, rods, heads, etc, without any luck...

If I could bother someone for these values I would be grateful! I am expecting my parts tomorrow or the day after and want to get the car back together asap...

I could probably fake it with sbc values for the 3/8 rod bolts, but the mains and head bolts are freaking big, so I really have no idea of where to go with these... other than they were real tight...

  2. These are for the 279/317 truck engines...should get you in the ballpark.

    Mains: 120-130 ft.-lb.
Heads (final, hot): 80-90, bolts marked "FT" are 110
Oil Pan: 12-15 (sounds high to me)
    Flywheel to crank: 75-85
    Exhaust manifold: 23-28
    Intake manifold: 23-28
    Oil pump to block: 12-15
    Oil pump cover: 12-15
Oil filter to block: 20-25 (old style filter)
    Front cover: 23-28
    Water outlet; 23-28
    Cam sprocket: 15-18
    Damper to crank: 130-145
    Rod nuts: 45-50
Rocker shaft supports: 12-15; with stiffening plates, 22-25
    Rocker arm adj. nut: 30-35
    Rocker cover: 2.0-2.5
    Water pump: 23-28
Oil pump to oil pan tube nut: 10-12
Crankcase vent outlet cover bolt: 3-5
    Top cover: 2.0-2.5
    Fuel Pump: 23-28
Crankcase vent adapter to block: 12-15
Thermostatic choke control heat tube nut: 25-30
    Air cleaner anchor screw: 4-5

Anyone who actually torques their air cleaner to specs needs a severe dowsing in ATF. :)

  4. Some warmth & dry weather would be nice...it was 40 degrees, windy, & pouring rain all day. Ah, Illinois. :D
