Thanks everyone. I have a few days to finish shaking it down before the drive to TRoG. Let the adventure begin.
The trip to TRoG was a long one and not without issues. However with the help of my friends I made it and received a very good response from people. My friend Jeremy Minamyers Merc, Ron’s 41 Plymouth and Skeeters Model A The highlight for me though was this I was honored to become a part of the Iron Lords CC. it was an amazing shake down run and I have some bugs to work out but that can wait a few days, I’m tired. Here’s our (very tired) victory photo. 1,000 miles and one crazy weekend behind us.
Got my "new to me" Edmunds choke bracket installed after a carb rebuild. I like how the curve picks up the Thickstun oil filler.
Very nice Paulie. I'll look through some of my photos, I know I have some from when we put the motor in.
Lense isn't centered just tossed in there. here is a tech tip. Use an old crappy collar from an Appleton spotlight, slightly oversized drill bit, some cutting fluid, drill STRAIGHT through the collar (or use a lathe), screw it together and you have an Appleton drill guide to install your spotlights with. It'll take a 1/2" and not hit the threads. Build the car yourself at 3am.
Next up installing the dr side 552 (bracket 990) until I can find a 991 the pass side will have to wait. Then a special bumper treatment. All before Friday
Grille going in tomorrow. Merc bullets are done. I'll tighten up some fitting and body work this coming off season.
I really stared at the Conway Shoebox (not the clone) and realized he put his up a tad higher to get over the dash upturn on the inside. He also put his arms at a 45* angle to the hood corner.
The Congregation was an epic show! Now to the thrash for TRoG in 2 weeks. Already making new changes. Pics by club members Del and Ben and good friend Matt Hurley.
It’s been a min so a quick update/ had Bagshaw mod a 57 Chrysler grille bar setup to fit my shoebox. min not setup to weld SS and Scott did a fantastic job. We shortened the bars, changed the pitch to match the Merc grille shell. Plus Bagshaw fabricated a brilliant support bracket. Currently I got a 51 hood and am scabbing in the fender to inner fender section and setting those to the hood gaps. Also reworking the rounded corners. Del’s badass 32 behind me at club night stay tuned
