Been trying to come up of ways to lower my roadster without extensive frame modifications. Currently I have a 9" early ford rear with triangulated 4-bar and coil over Blistien's. Looking to get maybe 2" lower. Someone suggested to go with a shorter coil over. The one's I have now mount approx, 12 1/2" center to center. I realize that I may need to modify my rear exshaust to clear, but is this a possible solution
Shorter coil over springs will result in the frame coming in contact with the rear axle on a hard bump in the road unless your frame has been C notched for clearance. HRP
Hell I'd be tickled to death just like it is if it were mine.....but it's not so do what you please. I think HRP is correct, other problems will pop up at cha and pretty soon you'll wished you left well enough alone.
I too, think it's just right the way it sits. I believe if you lower the back 2 inches, you'll lose the great stance that it has now. Mick
I gotta vote with the "leave it alone" guys. Your car looks great the way it sits. You don't think dropping the rear 2" would be too much? Take off the rear tires and wheels and drop the car 2" and position the wheel next to it and stand back and see how it looks. I personally think it would be too much.
I feel you are over thinking things . We cant see you cool roadster from a square on side view but i am sure if we did the stance would be perfect . If you are looking for a small project find something else to do . In other words why mess with a great car.
You'll want to measure the distance between the top of the axle tube and the underside of the c notch. This will tell you how much room you have now for up and down motion. Should you lower the car this dimension will be reduced giving you less suspension travel. Bottom line, I would hazard a guess that there isn't 2" of extra room there to get rid of without causing grief.
What size is the rear tire now? A taller tire would lessen the wheel well gap at the top of the tire, to some it would appear lowered. The first pic looks as if the car is setting "level". A taller tire in the rear would give it some rake too.
I agree with everyone else, the only fault that I can see is that it's not my car. Looks perfect to me.
