Anybody use longer spring shackles to lower the back end? Or does it create too poor a ride? Want to drop the car but trying to keep expenses down. Thanks!
That's what they did in the olden day's. had a friend that did it that way back in 1956 with a 46 ford 2dr sdn. he had it 2-3" off the ground that way. think he built the shackles so he could get it that low. the ride was crap tho., but it sure looked great. it's really not the recommended way to go now days. does anybody make a rear mono leaf spring for them?.
C'd frame, dearched rear spring, and longer shackles will get you this low. You'll have to cut a hole in the trunk floor for rear end clearance. Some kind of sway bar would also be recommended. Mick
Ditto, exactly the steps Mick describes. Use a Panhard rod to counteract the shackles' added sway. It's on the bump stops full time, though -- the ride bites. (thanks for the pic, Don)
