Thinking a little down the road here, but I'm going to replace my 235 with a small block, even considering supercharging it. Regardless, I'm leaning towards having a scoop. Was wondering if anyone had any pictures of engine compartments w/supercharged small blocks in '53/'54 chevys? Also looking for photos of scoops - not those cheesy fiberglass ones, but rather nice chrome peaking out from underhood. Yes, I used the search function, and yes, I went thru all 25 pages of the thread on '53/'54 chevys with little to no luck. Here's a pic of the type of scoop I was thinking, but still open to ideas....
I bought one of those Hillborn style scoops for my 55 for the 2 carb tunnelram. Not the same car for sure but one of the best looking scoops IMO. On a 53-54 it would look great
even with a blower the scoop will probably not come out the hood if that is your plan. SBC's sit pretty low in these cars.
Its not a 53 but a similar style. This car was build in the 50's as a show car mild custome and then turned race in the early 60's. that is when the hood was modified. (it has run everything from a cross ram to a hilborn to a 671), the under side has holes for the cross ram still before the hood got the scoop (we do not have any vintage pictures of it with the scoop)
obrians truckers has a nice scoop thats a little different than the hilborn,, i bought one last year and get alot of people telling me it looks kool its a single scoop with a slanted opening and 3 ribs at the top
