Art & Inspiration Looking for an old book "Model Cars"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Richard D, May 23, 2017.

  1. I must have checked this book out of the school library 100 times, back in the 70s. It seemed to be a fairly old book, maybe 60s or even 50s. As far as I remember, it was just titled "Model Cars". Had great tips on building and detailing model cars.

Hope you find one, but without a few more hints about the author, publisher, etc. you might be better off on ebay or the web for your searches. Then again, there are some pretty experienced (old) modelers here, too, who could possibly help. You might also want to post this on the Sunday Models thread. Gary

Wasn't Bill Nuemann a RnC editor? Started with a feature of his 28 roadster?

Awesome book! Read, re-read, re-read, and re-read again! Used many of his tips on the models I built, valve stems for the wheels, using flat paint on the interior parts rubbing it to make it look like leather....Awesome.

Like 48stude says. Abe books, they always seem to have a few copies listed.

  14. The Consumer guide book would be too new(but probably still cool). I'm pretty sure it's the Bill Neumann book.

I posted an ebay auction that is active, up above, buy it now. 6 available.

  16. Bill Neumann's book was published in 1971, the Consumer Guide book in 1979.
So you're probably right on it being the Neumann book.

  18. I tracked down a copy of Bill Neumann's book, sure enough, it was the book I had read so many times as a kid. Thanks for helping me identify it!

  20. Just ordered it from Amazon (used) missing dust jacket. Cost $41 plus $4 shipping. One left listed at $103.

Earlier this week they were as low as $10. Shipped, I'd guess it became an overnight hit from H.A.M.B. Followers!
