The Nelson 32 is pretty much inspiration for my Roadster build that I'm gonna start soon.. I have watched these^^^^^^^^ a few dozen tims in the past.. I'm gonna pull some stills from them a post it later..

Anyone have info on the Riley Roadster I posted above????

I remember watching that episode many many years ago, probably as a re-run in the early 60's on one of the 2 TV channels we had back then (we were truly living large:rolleyes:)...

-Great post and a great thread to boot,

Thanks for taking the time to post

Take a close look at stance, bike fenders, channel...Could the primered roadster Junior and pal drove off in be an earlier version of the Tony LaMaz ("Nelson roadster", later restored by Don Orasco) a year previous to the Nelson appearance?

One more thing: Anybody remember the 'Highway Patrol' episode with the Olds powered roadster 'getaway car' used in the restaurant stickups?

  10. The channelled '32 in the 'Life Of Riley' episode isn't the LaMasa roadster. LaMasa had bought it from Ray DeFillipi. Hop Up had featured it April 1952 and it had many of the distinctive features like the hood bulge hoodsides and '40 dash.

Yes, Don Hudson built that car, actually his employees did with him. He owned Don's Trim Shop in Norwalk,CA. Both Bart Root's 29 and the 32 were trimmed there. A studio employee must have seen those cars out there and thought "What a good storyline for a episode".

Tom found the 32 there like in 1957 or so. It's so funny how many incarnations that iconic 32 has gone through. To be used as Jr's Hot Rod 1st I think was pure Hot Rod! you can see that the studio sprayed that dust all over it to cover it's black hue

I wish I could remember what happened to the original chassis that was under that car. I seem to remember that when Chuck Lombardo's CSR-HB took that re-build on, I think the chassis was replaced with a Deuce Factory unit? Very good looking car from the gett go!

Do notice how HRM Editor Wally Parks did his job of PR and made sure that episodes actors and cars hit the cover, even got a positive plug in the NHRA-Pre-Professional Drag Racing!
